Blue Hose Travel to High Point, USC Upstate for Road Matches

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team hits the road for a pair of road contests beginning on Friday at 5 p.m. with a trip to High Point with that match being shown on ESPN+. The weekend wraps up on Saturday afternoon with a 2 p.m. first serve against USC Upstate in Spartanburg.

Last Time Out...
Sophomore Rylee Moorhead led the Presbyterian College volleyball team with 15 kills on Saturday but the Blue Hose suffered a 3-1 setback (25-22, 18-25, 16-25, 13-25) against Charleston Southern at the Templeton Center. Moorhead tallied 15 kills along with eight digs and three blocks in the defeat.

Head to Head...
PC and USC Upstate have met 18 times in the Blue Hose DI era with the Spartans taking 11 of those meetings including each of the prior four from the Blue Hose including a four-set win to begin league play a few weeks ago... High Point holds a 21-4 record all-time in the PC DI era with the Panthers taking the meeting in Clinton in straight sets early in Big South play...

Scouting the Panthers..
High Point enters the week with a 14-8 record including a 7-1 mark in Big South action this season. The Panthers earned a pair of straight set wins over UNC Asheville and Gardner-Webb last time out. Sydney Palazzolo leads the Panthers with 286 kills, while Dylan Maberry sits just behind Palazzolo with 243 kills. Ally Van Eekeren leads HPU with 633 assists. Jenny Wessling leads HPU with 291 digs on the defensive end just ahead of Palazzolo who's tallied 220 digs. Gabrielle Idlebird leads High Point in blocks and sits second in the conference with 82 blocks on the season.

Scouting the Spartans...
USC Upstate begins the week with a 6-15 record and are 3-5 in conference matches this season. The Spartans fell in four sets against Campbell before dropping a five set match against Radford last time out. Ashleigh Nicoll leads the Spartans with 159 kills throughout the 2022 season just ahead of Briana Strobert who's totaled 142. Emma McElveen leads Upstate with 297 assists as Savannah Page has recorded 250. On the defensive end, Jaci Drinnon leads USC Upstate with 173 digs.

Hewitt Moving Up Record Book...
Junior Anna Hewitt continues to climb towards 1,000 career digs as the Blue Hose libero has totaled 204 digs for PC thus far in 2022. Hewitt has totaled 968 digs in her Blue Hose career which puts her seventh in the record book just 14 digs out of sixth place. The Alvaton, Ky. native is looking to become the sixth player in the PC DI era to reach the 1,000 dig plateau.

Rylee Moorhead leads the Blue Hose with 29 aces on the season which ranks third in the league, while Anna Hewitt is sixth with 23... Moorhead is eighth in kills with 190... Kinsey Bailey sits sixth in the conference with 389 assists... Hailey Grocholski sits fifth in the league with her .296 hitting percentage...
