Gomez & Wieters Post Personal Records at Royals Challenge

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Presbyterian College cross country teams led by junior Keyli Gomez and junior William Johnson competed on Friday at the Royals Challenge in Charlotte, N.C… Johnson posted a 27:11.1 to lead the men's team, while freshman Spencer Wieters recorded his second consecutive personal record in the men's 8k with a 29:15.6. Gomez posted her fastest time in her collegiate career with a 20:13.2 in the women's 5k.

Notables
• William Johnson paced the men's team on Friday with a finishing time of 27:11.1 just 11 seconds off of his season-best time in Charlotte a few weeks ago.
• Wieters posted his second straight personal record with a 29:15 as he improved on his time by 13 seconds from the last meet in Charlotte.
• Samuel Wall recorded a time of 31:15.3 finishing just ahead of James Marler who posted a 31:34.2. Ralph Guerra rounded it out for PC with a 36:11.4 on Friday night.
• Augusta won the men's team title as Isaac Prather of Concord won the individual title at a time of 24:22.6.
• Gomez paced the women's team with a collegiate-best 20:13.2 improving by 17 seconds from her last trip to McAlpine Creek Park. The Blue Hose junior tallied a 20:19.5 which was her previous best time before Friday.
• Isabel Whitman finished the 5k in Charlotte with a 20:22.7, while Julie Covil recorded a 21:26.9. Lili Jaraczewski rounded it out for Presbyterian on Friday with a 21:38.
• Milligan earned the women's team title as Silan Ayyildiz earned the individual title at a time of 16:49.1
