CHARLESTON, S.C. –
Crosby James and
Marquis Barnett combined to score 38 points but the Presbyterian Blue Hose (1-1) fell to The Citadel Bulldogs (1-1), 70-58, on the road.

James recorded his first 20-point scoring game at PC with 21 points. Barnett added 17 points while also grabbing nine rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF – The Blue Hose scored five of the half's first seven points behind a three by
Owen McCormack and a driving layup by Barnett. With the score tied at eight with 15:53 on the clock, the Blue Hose went on a 10-2 run taking an 18-10 lead after James converted on two free throws at the 11:35 mark. James scored eight points during the scoring run. With PC leading 27-20 after two more free throws from James with 7:57 on the clock, the Citadel outscored the Blue Hose 10-3 over the next three minutes taking a 30-29 lead. The lead exchanged hands several times over the next few minutes. With just under a minute on the clock, Citadel regained the lead 35-32. A three from James with 31 seconds on the clock would send the game into halftime tied at 35.

SECOND HALF – Presbyterian scored eight of the first 12 points of the half taking a 43-39 lead when Barnett connected on a three with 16:11 on the clock. Trevon Reddish Rhone converted on two free throws and
Quadir Pettaway knocked down his first career three-point field goal for Presbyterian's other points during the run. The Citadel tied the score at 43, then the Blue Hose regained the lead on a jumper in the paint by James. The Bulldogs connected on a three to regain the lead. James pushed the Blue Hose back in front with another score in the paint. Citadel answered with two points of their own. With 11:36 on the clock, James connected on a jumper in the lane giving the Blue Hose the lead again. Citadel's Stephen Clark, who scored 23 points, scored inside with just under 11 minutes to play. With 10:01 on the clock, Presbyterian's McCormack scored on a layup off a beautiful assist from
Kobe Stewart which gave the Blue Hose their final lead of 51-50. The Citadel scored 10 of the next 11 points taking control of the game.
NOTES
- Barnett's 17 points marked his sixth career double-figure scoring game. Barnett's nine rebounds were a career-high.
- James was 4-for-5 from the free throw line. Â Â
- Presbyterian blocked seven shots. McCormack had three blocks, while Reddish-Rhone had two blocks.
