CHARLESTON, S.C. – In the first head-to-head dual of the 2022-23 campaign in its infant stages, the Presbyterian College men's wrestling squad was defeated by Big Ten representative Michigan State at Summerville High School in Charleston on Saturday afternoon. At the conclusion of the 10-match contest, the final tally read 46-3 in favor of the Spartans, who are currently on the outside looking in across the latest NWCA national rankings.
During what was the first-ever meeting between the two programs, the Blue Hose were able to register a 174-lb. victory courtesy of freshman
Reed Douglass. The Canajoharie, NY product toppled MSU's (name) via decision, accounting for PC's three points in the loss.
It will be a quick turnaround for Director of Wrestling
Mark Cody's club, who will now prepare for a multi-team tournament hosted by The Citadel tomorrow morning. The Bulldogs' open challenge is scheduled to begin at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, as Presbyterian looks to bounce back and post similar results to their first multi-team event of the year at the Princeton Open last weekend (landing two in the top five and four in the top eight of their respective weight classes).
