Moorhead Earns All-Conference Honors; Cairns Named to Academic Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two members of the Presbyterian College volleyball team were honored by the Big South Conference as a part of its annual awards announcement on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore outside hitter Rylee Moorhead earned Honorable Mention All-Conference as senior right side Paige Cairns received All-Academic Team Honors.

Moorhead led the Blue Hose offensively throughout the 2022 season as she was the lone PC player to see action in all 106 sets throughout the 28 matches of the season. The Anderson, S.C. native led the way for the Blue Hose with 286 kills which ranked sixth in the Big South averaging 2.7 kills/set. Moorhead ranked second in the league with 39 service aces and ranked seventh in the conference with 341 points. She also tallied 225 digs, 28 blocks and 19 assists throughout the 2022 campaign. She finished the 2022 season with six double-doubles and tallied 10+ kills in 16 matches including eight of the final nine matches of the year.

Cairns earned All-Academic Team honors for the second straight season as the senior saw action in all 28 matches with starts in 12 of those contests. In the classroom, Cairns boasts a 3.97 GPA as a biology major and psychology minor as the junior has made the president's list at Presbyterian three times and landed on the Big South Honor Roll list three times. On the court, Cairns totaled 218 kills with a career-high 19 against Gardner-Webb. She also added 56 digs and 28 blocks throughout the 2022 season.
