Volleyball Begins November at Gardner-Webb, Asheville

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team begins the month of November on Friday with a road match at Gardner-Webb set for a 6 p.m. first serve before traveling to UNC Asheville on Saturday for a 2 p.m. start against the Bulldogs. Both matches will be shown on ESPN+ this weekend.

Last Time Out...
The Presbyterian College volleyball team fell on Saturday afternoon to visiting Campbell 3-0 (23-25, 19-25, 22-25) at the Templeton Center. Sophomore Rylee Moorhead led the Blue Hose offense with 10 kills, while freshman setter Anna Baranski had 26 assists in the contest.

Head to Head...
PC holds a 22-10 all-time lead over Gardner-Webb with the Blue Hose taking the matchup in five sets in Clinton this season led by Paige Cairns who tallied a career-high 19 kills. UNC Asheville leads the all-time DI series with the Blue Hose winning 20 of the 30 prior meetings. PC took the matchup from the Bulldogs in four sets earlier this season led by Rylee Moorhead with 10 kills..

Scouting the Runnin' Bulldogs..
Gardner-Webb enters Friday's matchup winning its last three in conference against CSU, UNC Asheville and USC Upstate with the Ashville and Upstate matches coming in straight sets. Kylee Garrison leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with 289 kills and 240 digs on the defensive side for GWU. Morgan Hornaday leads the way for Gardner-Webb with 694 assists on the season. Sophia Bolden leads a balanced attack on the defensive side with 284 digs just ahead of Sophia Kotsovolos who's totaled 276 digs. Delaney McCullough leads GWU with 60 blocks.

Scouting the Bulldogs...
UNC Asheville begins the weekend with a 4-18 record following a 3-0 shutout win against USC Upstate last time out. Kat Cruser leads the Bulldogs with 166 kills while Lexy Cole has totaled 122 kills on the season. Lindsay Springer leads Asheville with 370 assists as Ona Elkins has totaled 246 helpers. Giulia Rodrigues leads UNC Asheville with 334 digs on the defensive end. Nina Finderle leads the Bulldogs with 64 blocks.

Moorhead Leading the Offense in League..
The Blue Hose sophomore currently leads the league with 137 kills averaging a little over three kills per set throughout the 12 Big South matches for PC. Moorhead has tallied 10+ kills in nine league matches including each of the last five contests for the Blue Hose. She's also added 75 digs, 13 blocks and 13 aces in conference play.

Hewitt Eclipses 1,000 Digs..
Junior Anna Hewitt became the sixth player in the Blue Hose DI era to eclipse 1,000 digs on Saturday against USC Upstate as the PC libero tallied a team-high 28 digs in the four-set win over the Spartans. She became the first Blue Hose since Erin Eulitz in 2019 to surpass 1,000 digs in their time with Presbyterian.

Blue Hose in the Ranks...
Rylee Moorhead enters the week seventh in the league with 246 kills among qualified players in the conference... Moorhead leads a group of the Blue Hose with 34 service aces as that sits tied for third in the league while Anna Hewitt is sixth with 26 and Abby Sparkman is seventh with 25... Hewitt is ninth in the league with 273 digs on the defensive end... Moorhead is eighth in the Big South with 292.5 points averaging 3.29 points/set...
