HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF – Allen scored the game's first four points. A layup by
Marquis Barnett with 17:27 on the clock got the Blue Hose on the scoreboard. Allen led by three points a couple of times early in the game, with the Blue Hose trailing 7-4, a three from the corner by
Trevon Reddish-Rhone and an old-fashioned three-point play by
Crosby James put the Blue Hose in front, 10-7, with 13:55 on the clock. Allen regained the lead with a jumper in the lane at the 12:30 mark. PC scored nine of the next 11 points taking a 19-13 lead on a layup by Reddish-Rhone at the 9:10 mark. Forrest scored five points during the PC scoring run. With PC leading 21-18 with 6:19 on the clock, the Blue Hose ended the half on a 14-3 run taking a 35-21 halftime lead. Stewart scored six points and Pettaway scored five points during the scoring run.
SECOND HALF – Allen scored 11 of the first 15 points of the half cutting PC's lead to 39-32 at the 16:21 mark. Consecutive baskets from Stewart and Forrest pushed the Blue Hose's lead to 43-32. Allen scored with 14:16 on the clock cutting Presbyterian's lead to nine points but that would be as close as the Yellow Jackets would get to the Blue Hose. A three by Barnett and two free throws from
Terrell Ard, Jr. gave the Blue Hose a 48-34 lead at the 13:14 mark. Presbyterian maintained a double-figure lead and when Jones converted on a fast break layup Presbyterian's lead had ballooned to 71-50 with 5:02 on the clock. Allen cut PC's lead to 17 points a couple of times but they were not able to get any closer.
