Women's Basketball Welcomes Bluefield on Tuesday to Close Out Pre-Big South Slate

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team concludes non-conference play on Tuesday with 12 p.m. tip against Bluefield from inside the Templeton Center. The non-conference finale will be shown on ESPN+.

Opening Tip
- The Blue Hose return home to close out non-conference play on Tuesday with a noon Education Day game against Bluefield inside the Templeton Center. PC looks to continue recent success in non-conference finales as the Blue Hose have won two of their last three.
 
Scouting the Rams
-  Bluefield comes into Tuesday's game with a 6-8 mark following an 80-72 defeat last time out against West Virginia Tech. Kylie Meadows leads the Rams with 18 points/game as Emily Breeding has added 11.4 ppg for Bluefield. Meadows leads the Rams on the glass with 8.1 rebounds/game. Jaydn Hoover leads the way for Bluefield with 29 assists on the season.
 
Sjökvist Goes Back-to-Back Freshman Honors
- Freshman Tilda Sjökvist earned her second straight Big South Freshman of the Week honors on Monday following her performance against Florida. She tallied eight points and four assists against the Gators. She earned her first honor on the heels of 12.5 points per game and 4.5 assists per game against JU and UNCG the week prior. Sjökvist is the first Blue Hose to receive back-to-back Freshman of the Week honors from the Big South since Taylor Petty as Petty went back-to-back on Jan.4 & 11, 2016. She becomes the fourth Blue Hose to accomplish this feat in the program's DI history.
 
Blue Hose in the Ranks
- Sjökvist leads the Blue Hose with 32 assists which ranks in a tie for fourth among all players in the Big South... Bryanna Brady sits in a tie for third in the league with 13 blocks.... Mara Neira is fifth in the conference with 16 threes while Aubrie Kierscht and Sjökvist are both in a tie for 10th with 12 threes... Brady is fifth in the conference with with 25 offensive rebounds throughout the 2022-23 season...
 
Head-to-Head vs. the Rams
- PC and Bluefield meet on Tuesday for the first time in the Blue Hose DI era.
 
Second Quarter Dominance
- PC has controlled the scoreboard in the second quarter throughout the opening eight games of the season as the Blue Hose has outscored their opponents 152-131 in the quarter. PC has been led by Mara Neira, who tallied 32 points in the second, highlighted by 12 at Minnesota. Bryanna Brady has added 30 in the quarter, while Tilda Sjökvist has posted 22 in the quarter. Christina Kline has tallied 16 after five points the second on Wednesday at UNCG. On the defensive end, PC held Furman to just three points and Western Carolina to five points in the second quarter of its respective games with those two SoCon foes.

- PC is scheduled to play 29 contests under the direction of fifth-year head coach Alaura Sharp during the 2022-23 season, including 18 league games which begin on Dec. 29 at Campbell. The Blue Hose are slated to make trips to St. Thomas, Minnesota, Morehead State, UNCG, Florida, and Florida State in non-conference play while welcoming Carolina University, Furman, WCU, Jacksonville, and Bluefield to Clinton. Presbyterian will play nine home-and-homes with the league in 2022, beginning with Campbell on Dec. 29.
 
New Faces Enter the Equation
- The Blue Hose enter the 2022-23 season with a lot of fresh faces 2022 as 11 new players join the squad. The Blue Hose freshman class includes guards Aubrie Kierscht (Salina, Kan.), Ashley Carrillo (Liberal, Kan.), Tilda Sjokvist (Huskvarna, Sweden), Natalie Herrin (Patterson, Ga.), and forward Dennaye Hinds (Bridgeport, Conn.). In addition to the five freshmen, PC added a host of upperclassmen in 2022 to round out the roster. Coach Sharp welcomes Christina Kline (La Salle), Mara Neira (Eastern Wyoming), Sonia Sato (McCook CC), Dagne Apsite (UTEP), Nuria Cunill (Eastern Washington), and Laila Grant (Vincennes).
