Aggies Spoil Blue Hose Senior Day on Saturday

Clinton, S.C. – N.C. A&T spoiled the Presbyterian College women's basketball senior day on Saturday as the Aggies picked up the 73-56 win inside the Templeton Center. Fifth-year senior Jade Compton led the Blue Hose with 16 points

 Scoring the Game
 - A&T carried over its hot shooting from Thursday's matchup with an 8-2 run over the first three and a half minutes. The Blue Hose had a quick answer with a 6-2 burst to cut it to a 10-8 lead with the guests halfway thru the first half. The Aggies continued their strong shooting with a 10-2 burst to push it back to 18-10 with 3:48 to play in the first. Compton had five straight to cut back into the Aggies lead and make it 18-15 before a 4-0 burst gave them the 22-15 edge. The quarter was capped by Bracone banking a three from half court at the buzzer to make it 22-18 after one. 
- The Aggies and Blue Hose played back and forth over the first four and a half minutes as the guests held the four-point edge at 29-25 with 5:30 to play in the first half. A&T extended the lead to 12, 39-27 on the heels of a 10-2 run over the next four minutes. The margin stayed at 12 going to the break with N.C. A&T leading 42-30 at the intermission. 
- A&T began the second half on a 9-2 run to take a 51-32 lead with 4:28 to play in the third. Both teams traded points over the final four and a half minutes with the guests taking a 58-40 lead to the final 10 minutes on Saturday.
- The Aggies pushed the lead to 20 twice in the first half of the stanza before a 6-2 Blue Hose burst pushed it back to 16 with 3:42 left. The Aggies would keep the margin at 17 down the stretch for the 73-56 win on Saturday. 
 
 Players of the Game
 - Fifth-year senior Jade Compton led the Blue Hose with 16 points and pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Maleia Bracone added 10 points for the Blue Hose as well. Le'Mesha Madden dished out a team-high three assists in the contest. Chanin Scott was one of three Aggies in double-figures with 15 points as she led the team with seven rebounds. Jazmin Harris added 12 points and Shayla Nelson chipped in with 10 points. Scott had a team-high six assists. 

Stats of the Game
 - N.C. A&T connected on 32-of-57 field goals (56.1%) as the Blue Hose made 22-of-52 (42.3%) in Saturday's contest. PC made five threes as the Aggies connected on four from beyond the arc. PC was seven-of-nine at the charity stripe as the guests made 5-of-13. A&T had a 36-22 edge on the glass on Saturday. The guests had a 20-point edge in the paint at 46-26. The Aggies had 19 assists compared to eight from the Blue Hose. A&T had a slim eight to seven edge in steals. 


Notables
 - Compton recorded her 16th double-figure scoring game of the season with her team-high 16 on Saturday. 
- The Garland, Texas native moved into ninth in the single-season DI record book for points in a season with 348 on the year. 
- She also moved into a tie for fifth in the same record book for field goals made in a year with 134 after her six on Saturday.
- Nyah Willis recorded her fifth game this season with a pair of steals which is a season-high for the San Jose, Calif. native.
- Following Saturday's contest, the Blue Hose honored Alessia Capley, Trinity Johnson, Georgia Stockton, and Compton as a part of senior day for all of their accomplishments for the program. 

Up Next
 - PC returns to action on Tuesday in Spartanburg with a matchup at 6 p.m. against USC Upstate. The Blue Hose and Spartans are set to play in Clinton on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
