Women's Basketball Set for Back-to-Back With Spartans

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team gets set for a home-and-home beginning on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. in Spartanburg against USC Upstate. The two teams meet in Clinton on Wednesday at 6 p.m. to wrap up the home-and-home set.

N.C. A&T spoiled the Presbyterian College women's basketball senior day on Saturday as the Aggies picked up the 73-56 win inside the Templeton Center. Fifth-year senior Jade Compton led the Blue Hose with 16 points.

Sharp Inks Three-Year Extension
Presbyterian College women's basketball coach Alaura Sharp has signed a three-year contract extension, as announced Tuesday by Athletics Director Rob Acunto. Sharp is in her fourth season at the helm of the Blue Hose women's basketball as PC is 9-14 and 4-9 in the Big South during the current 2021-22 campaign.

Last Five Games...
In the Blue Hose last five games, fifth-year senior Jade Compton is leading the way for PC with 16.4 ppg and eight rebounds per contest... Maleia Bracone has made eight three in that stretch to lead the way for PC... Bracone has also totaled a team-high 15 assists over the last five games... Compton has pulled down 13 of her 40 rebounds in the last five on the offensive end of the court...

Blue Hose in the Ranks...
The Blue Hose are second in the Big South at the free throw line converting 71.2% at the stripe... PC is also second averaging 36.5 rebounds per game... Jade Compton sits sixth in the league in scoring at 15.8 points per game... Compton is also sixth in rebounds with 7.4 per contest... Nyah Willis is seventh at the foul line shooting 73.4% and Tionna Carter is eighth at 71.4%... Maleia Bracone sits eighth in three-pointers made at 40...

Blue Hose in the Ranks in League Play...
Compton sits third in league play in rebounds at 8.6 per game... she's also fifth at the foul line making 82.5% of her free throws in Big South contests... she also sits ninth in points/game at 16.3 in her 13 played conference matchups...

Double-Doubles in 2021-22...
Jade Compton recorded her fourth double-double of the season against Charleston Southern as it was her second straight with 26 points and 15 rebounds against the Bucs. She had 18 points and 11 rebounds against Winthrop last week as well. She had a pair of double-doubles in the beginning of league play already this season against Charleston Southern (12 pts, 10 rebs) and Longwood (32 pts, 15 rebs). Nyah Willis had a pair of double-doubles in non-conference play against St. Thomas (15 pts, 11 rebs) and Vanderbilt (16 pts, 12 rebs)...Maleia Bracone picked up her second career double-double against Campbell with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Scouting the Spartans...
USC Upstate comes into this week's home-and-home with an 18-6 record following a setback on Saturday against High Point. The Spartans are led by Chellia Watson who's averaging 14.7 ppg along with freshman Rachael Rose who's scored 12.2 per contest and has a team-high 72 assists. Jada Logan leads Upstate on the glass with 7.2 per game. Rose along with Molly Coleman have made 90+ field goals while shooting over 50% from the floor this season.
