Blue Hose Head to Longwood for Saturday Afternoon Matchup

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team heads to Virginia for a 3 p.m. tip on Saturday afternoon against Longwood in Big South action. The matchup from Willett Hall will be shown on ESPN+.

Fifth-year senior Jade Compton led the Blue Hose with 23 points but USC Upstate defeated the Presbyterian College women's basketball team 80-67 on Wednesday night from the Templeton Center. Nyah Willis added 18 and Tionna Carter had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Sharp Inks Three-Year Extension
Presbyterian College women's basketball coach Alaura Sharp has signed a three-year contract extension, as announced Tuesday by Athletics Director Rob Acunto. Sharp is in her fourth season at the helm of the Blue Hose women's basketball as PC is 8-10 and 3-5 in the Big South during the current 2021-22 campaign.

Over the last five games, Jade Compton is pacing the Blue Hose with 15.6 ppg as she is shooting 52.8% from the field as well... Maleia Bracone is scoring 12.8 points/game as she's made a team-high 10 threes... Tionna Carter is averaging a team-high 6.8 rebounds/game...
 
Blue Hose in the Ranks...
With her 23 points on Wednesday, Jade Compton now ranks fifth in the conference in points per game with 16.2... Compton is also tied for sixth in rebounds/game with 7.3... Nyah Willis sits sixth in the Big South in free-throw percentage at 75.7 after her 11-of-11 performance on Wednesday night... PC sits second in the league at the free-throw line making 72.2%...
 
Blue Hose in the Ranks in League Play...
Compton is also tied for fifth in league games with 16.8 points/game... She is also fourth in rebounds with 8.3 per contest... She is third in the league at the free-throw line making 85.4% of her free throws in Big South games... Maleia Bracone is tied for sixth in three-pointers made with 28...
 
Double-Doubles in 2021-22...
Tionna Carter picked up her second double-double of the season on Wednesday against USC Upstate with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Carter recorded her first of the year with 11 points and 10 boards against High Point last month. Jade Compton leads the team with four double-doubles as her most recent came against Charleston Southern as it was her second straight with 26 points and 15 rebounds against the Bucs. She had 18 points and 11 rebounds against Winthrop in the game prior to the CSU game as well. She had a pair of double-doubles in the beginning of league play already this season against Charleston Southern (12 pts, 10 rebs) and Longwood (32 pts, 15 rebs). Nyah Willis had a pair of double-doubles in non-conference play against St. Thomas (15 pts, 11 rebs) and Vanderbilt (16 pts, 12 rebs)...Maleia Bracone picked up her second career double-double against Campbell with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Scouting the Lancers...
Longwood enters play on Saturday with a 14-11 record which includes an 11-3 mark in league play after defeating N.C. A&T in its last contest. The Lancers are led by Kyla McMakin who's averaging 18.5 ppg which is second in the Big South this season. Akila Smith is fourth in the league with 16.4 ppg. Smith also leads the Lancers and is fourth in the league with 7.5 rebounds/game. Smith is tops in the Big South with a 58.4% field goal percentage and a conference best 72 blocks. The Lancers are second in the league in ppg at 70.1. In league play, McMakin is one of only two in the Big South averaging 20+ points/game as she's scored 20.4 in 14 league matchups.
