CLINTON, S.C.- The Presbyterian College softball team won both of their games on Sunday in the final day of the PC Invitational, 8-0 over Detroit Mercy and 8-0 past App State. The two wins, and 4-0 perfect record at the PC Invitational, now gives Presbyterian a 5-3 record on the season.
Game 1 – Detroit Mercy
Morgan Hess got the start in game one for the Blue Hose, going through the top of the first with ease. Presbyterian was able to strike in the bottom half as an error allowed
Jersey Silver to score.
Jillian Hewes knocked a single to left field which sent
Lath Freeman to third. Hess helped her cause by putting one in play that eluded the right fielder and allowed Freeman to score. PC would cross the plate again in the third as Hess did it again, driving in Freeman.
Rebecca Clark would single to drive in Hewes and
Layna Johnson would knock in Hess with a single of her own. The Blue Hose added one in the fourth with a deep popup which allowed the speedy

th inning mercy win as
Jaiden Tweed singled up the middle and sent Clark around third to score.
Game 2 – App State
Jenna Greene took the circle in game two for PC, shutting down App State in the first two innings.
Kara Starnes got the start in left field and made the most of her opportunity at the plate driving in Tweed and Hess who were already in scoring position. PC would have to wait until the fourth to tack on another run. Starnes walked with two out and Silver sent one to the left field wall which brought in her teammate. The bats really came alive in the fifth as they plated five en route to the 8-0 mercy win. Hess doubled to right center to bring in
Kennedy Rhue who pinch ran for Freeman. Clark reached on an error which then saw Tweed single to score Hess. Tweed took second as the Mountaineers tried to catch her stealing, but to no avail as Clark scored on the throw down. Johnson reached on an error as the winning run and advanced to second as App State didn't make the same mistake twice throwing across the diamond. Tweed scored on a groundout and Silver plated Johnson on an infield single which ended the game.
