Jimmy McCollum and freshman
Jack Wofford have been named Golfer and Freshman of the week, respectively, by the Big South for matches played Feb. 17-23, it was announced today.
McCollum finished T7 at the Wexford Intercollegiate, which took place from Feb 21-22. He shot a 74 (+2) in round one, 72 (E) in round two, and a 70 (-2) in the final round to shoot E throughout the tournament. This was McCollum's best third round score since 2019. This is also the first top-10 finish for a Blue Hose this year.
Wofford finished T37 in his third career collegiate tournament. The freshman shot a career-best in rounds one and two, stroking a 72 (E) in the first round with five birdies, and a 75 (+3) in round two. He ended the Wexford Intercollegiate with a +7, a career-best.
This is McCollum's third-ever weekly honor, the previous two coming back in 2020 when he was a freshman. For Wofford, this is his first-ever collegiate weekly award.
The Blue Hose are back in action Mar. 7-8, at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate at the Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, S.C.
