Blue Hose Set to Battle CSU in Charleston

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team hits the road on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tip against Charleston Southern at Buccaneer Fieldhouse. The Blue Hose and Bucs will face off on ESPN+ from Charleston on Saturday afternoon.

Last Time Out...
Fifth-year senior Jade Compton recorded her third double-double of the season with 18 points to go along with 11 rebounds as the Presbyterian College women's basketball team fell on Tuesday night by the score of 58-42 to Winthrop from Winthrop Coliseum.

Last Time against CSU...
Four players scored in double figures, led by sophomore guard Maleia Bracone with 14 as the Blue Hose knocked off CSU 68-58 on Jan. 12 inside the Templeton Center. In the win, freshman guard Paige Kindseth recorded a career-high 12 points. Charleston Southern was led in this one by Skylar Baltezegar who had 14 points and six rebounds to go along with a pair of blocks.

Sharp Inks Three-Year Extension
Presbyterian College women's basketball coach Alaura Sharp has signed a three-year contract extension, as announced Tuesday by Athletics Director Rob Acunto. Sharp is in her fourth season at the helm of the Blue Hose women's basketball as PC is 8-10 and 3-5 in the Big South during the current 2021-22 campaign.

Last Five Games...
Over the Blue Hose last five games, Jade Compton is leading the way with 16.8 ppg as she is shooting 47.2% from the field. She's also averaging 7.8 rebounds/game. Tionna Carter has 10.4 points/game and is averaging 6.2 boards per game. Maleia Bracone has 10.2 ppg as she's made a team-high 11 from three-point range over PC's last five contests.

Blue Hose in the Ranks...
In league play, Jade Compton ranks third in rebounds per game with 9.2 a contest. Compton is also ninth in the league is scoring in league games with 16.4 ppg. Sophomore Maleia Bracone is eighth in three pointers in Big South games as she's made 17 threes. Overall in 2021-22, Compton is sixth in the league averaging 15.8 ppg and is sixth in rebounds at 7.4 per game.

Double-Doubles in 2021-22...
Jade Compton recorded her third double-double of the season on Tuesday with 18 points and 11 rebounds as its her third in league play. She had a pair of double-doubles in league play already this season against Charleston Southern (12 pts, 10 rebs) and Longwood (32 pts, 15 rebs). Nyah Willis had a pair of double-doubles in non-conference play against St. Thomas (15 pts, 11 rebs) and Vanderbilt (16 pts, 12 rebs)...Maleia Bracone picked up her second career double-double against Campbell with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Field Goal Defense...
PC also ranks third in shooting defense among Big South teams allowing just 39.3% of opponents field goals thru 19 games. The Blue Hose have held opponents below 40% in 10 of 19 games this season including three of the Blue Hose last five games.

Scouting the Bucs...
Charleston Southern sits at 2-18 entering play on Saturday following a 91-59 setback against Longwood on Wednesday night. Alyssia Faye leads the Bucs in scoring with 8.1 ppg along with a team-high 5.9 rebounds/game. Tori Gittens has made a team-high 23 threes. Skylar Baltezegar has recorded a team-high 22 blocks.
