Busy Blue Hose Stretch Starts Tuesday at Home

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team opens a busy stretch of the season on Tuesday as the Blue Hose welcome Hampton to the Templeton Center for a 6 p.m. tip on ESPN+. PC starts a six-game in 11 day stretch on Tuesday with four different opponents.

Last Time Out...
For the second time in as many games, fifth-year senior Jade Compton recorded a double-double with 26 points and tied a career-high with 15 rebounds as the Presbyterian College women's basketball team picked up a 60-49 victory over Charleston Southern from Buccaneer Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon.
 
Last Time against Hampton...
Hampton jumped out to an early 18-point lead that propelled the host Pirates to a 66-43 victory on January 4th at the Convocation Center. Jade Compton pulled down 12 rebounds in the contest to lead the Blue Hose.
 
Sharp Inks Three-Year Extension
Presbyterian College women's basketball coach Alaura Sharp has signed a three-year contract extension, as announced Tuesday by Athletics Director Rob Acunto. Sharp is in her fourth season at the helm of the Blue Hose women's basketball as PC is 8-10 and 3-5 in the Big South during the current 2021-22 campaign.
 
Last Five Games...
In the Blue Hose last five games, fifth-year senior Jade Compton is averaging 18.4 ppg and 9.2 rpg while shooting 46.6%. Tionna Carter is at 11.0 points/game and 6.2 rebounds/game. Maleia Bracone has connected on 10 threes over the Blue Hose last five games. Bracone is leading PC with 16 assists while Nyah Willis has chipped in with 10 helpers in the last five.
 
Blue Hose in the Ranks...
Compton is fifth in scoring throughout 2021-22 season with 16.3 ppg... She's also tied for fourth in rebounds/game at 7.8 per contest... Maleia Bracone is eighth in the conference in threes with 34 made triples this season... As a team, Presbyterian is second in field goal defense allowing just 38.8% of made field goals by opponents this season... PC is second in free-throw percentage at 71.4%... Presbyterian is leading the league with 38 rebounds/game...
 
Blue Hose in the Ranks in League Play...
Compton is fifth in scoring in confernece play averaging 17.4 per contest... She is also second in conference play with 9.8 rebounds/game... Compton is sixth in Big South games with 82.4% free-throws made... Maleia Bracone and Nyah Willis are tied for eighth in assists with 29 over the Blue Hose 10 league matchups...
 
Double-Doubles in 2021-22...
Jade Compton recorded her fourth double-double of the season on Saturday and her second straight with 26 points and 15 rebounds against Charleston Southern. She had 18 points and 11 rebounds against Winthrop last week as well. She had a pair of double-doubles in the beginning of league play already this season against Charleston Southern (12 pts, 10 rebs) and Longwood (32 pts, 15 rebs). Nyah Willis had a pair of double-doubles in non-conference play against St. Thomas (15 pts, 11 rebs) and Vanderbilt (16 pts, 12 rebs)...Maleia Bracone picked up her second career double-double against Campbell with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Field Goal Defense...
PC also ranks second in shooting defense among Big South teams allowing just 38.8% of opponents field goals thru 20 games. The Blue Hose have held opponents below 40% in 11 of 20 games this season including four of the Blue Hose last six games.
 
Scouting the Pirates...
Hampton comes into Tuesday's game with a 7-11 record following a tight 60-58 defeat against Upstate on Saturday afternoon. The Pirates are led by Nylah Young who is averaging 16.5 points/game to go along with a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game as well. Madison Buford is averaging 10.9 ppg. Young also leads Hampton with 33 steals and 16 blocks this year. In the January 4th matchup, Victoria Mason was one of three Pirates with 15+ as she totaled 22 in the Hampton 66-43 win while Young added 21 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Up Next...
The Blue Hose continue the busy stretch with a home-and-home against N.C. A&T beginning on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Greensboro. The same two teams will meet on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Clinton.
