Toth Leads Blue Hose in Setback against Georgia State

ATLANTA, Ga. –  Senior Eric Toth went 4-for-4 in the series opener against Georgia State but the Presbyterian College baseball team came out on the wrong end of an 11-6 decision on Friday afternoon at the GSU Baseball Complex. Due to anticipated weather at Georgia State, the Blue Hose and Panthers will conclude the series on Sunday at noon with a doubleheader.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- GSU got on the board in the first as the hosts took advantage of a Blue Hose throwing error to plate a run and take the early 1-0 lead.
- The Blue Hose answered in the third with a two-run double off the bat of Chase Hughes to take a 2-1 lead.
- PC extended the lead to 3-1 after 2.5 with an RBI single off the bat of Jay Wetherington.
- Georgia State answered in its half of the third with a four-run frame capped by a three-run homer to take a 5-3 advantage after three frames.
- Presbyterian answered in the fourth first with an RBI single by Eric Toth before Ryan Ouzts draws a bases loaded walk and Sean Klein is hit by a pitch to make it 6-5 Blue Hose after 3.5.
- The back and forth battle continued on Friday as the Panthers recorded a three-run double in the fifth to regain the 8-6 lead over PC.
- Georgia State pushed it out to 11-6 in the seventh with a three-run home run that pushed the host Panthers to the win on Friday afternoon.
 
NOTABLES
- Toth led the Blue Hose offense on Friday as he tied a career-high with four hits in the contest.
- Brody Fahr and Jay Wetherington each added two hits in the matchup against the Panthers.
- Fahr and Toth have now recorded five multi-hit games which is tied for the team-high this season.
- Hughes added his fourth game with multiple RBIs as he recorded a two-run double in the third inning.
- Wetherington advanced his hit streak to a team-best 11 games in a row.
- Friday's starter Charlie McDaniel totaled a career-high eight strikeouts.

- Saturday's matchup with the Panthers has been postponed due to weather the PC and Georgia State concluding the three-game series with a twinbill on Sunday beginning at noon.
