Baseball Drops Midweek Matchup at Charlotte

Charlotte, N.C. –  The Presbyterian College baseball team came out on the wrong end of a midweek matchup against Charlotte as the host 49ers defeated the Blue Hose 4-1 on Tuesday night at Hayes Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charlotte got on the board first in the fifth with an RBI single to take the 1-0 lead.
- The 49ers extended the lead in the sixth with a two-run single to push the advantage to 3-0 after six frames.
- The hosts added a run in the seventh to extend the lead to 4-0.
- Eric Toth got the Blue Hose on the board with an RBI single to cut the 49ers lead down to 4-1 after 7.5 innings.
 
NOTABLES
-  Junior Colbey Klepper tossed a season-high 4.2 innings with a season-high six strikeouts as Klepper limited the 49ers to just one earned run in his second start of the year.
- Jay Wetherington pushed his hit streak to 14 games in a row with his sixth inning bunt single.
- Wetherington picked up his team-high sixth multi-hit game with his two hits on Tuesday night.
- Dalton Reeves has hits in seven consecutive games for the Blue Hose which is the second longest hit streak on the team.
- Toth has reached base safely in his last 12 contests following his eighth inning single that got the Blue Hose on the board.
