Blue Hose Dominate Highlanders for Third Straight League Victory

Clinton, S.C.. –  The Presbyterian College women's tennis team continued its strong start to the 2022 conference slate with a 6-1 victory over Radford on Saturday afternoon at the Templeton Tennis Courts.

"Great win for the team. The team was super locked in and stayed focused for the entire match. It continues a great start to Big South play and I know that the team is ready to keep it rolling next week."

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hose got off to a fast start on Saturday with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles from Zeba Jamal and Beth Lacey. The Highlanders evened it up at No. 1 doubles with a 6-3 win.
- PC was able to clinch the doubles point when Lucianna Piedra and Valentina De Sousa won 6-1 at No. 3 doubles to clinch the first point of the match.
- PC pushed the lead to 2-0 with a straight-set victory from Jessica Leeman at No. 2 singles. Lacey earned a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles.
- Radford grabbed a straight-set victory at No. 6 singles to cut the Blue Hose lead to 3-1.
- Claudia Sanchez dispatched of her opponent in a 6-3, 6-3 win to clinch the match for PC.
- Jamal and Piedra needed third set tiebreaks but were able to win and push the Blue Hose to a 6-1 victory.
 
NOTES
- Lacey moved into a tie for sixth on the Blue Hose career Big South singles wins record book with eight singles wins in league play.
- Sanchez and Lacey both lead the Blue Hose on the year with eight singles wins.
- The Blue Hose improved on Saturday to 13-1 in singles play over PC's first three league matches. PC is also 8-1 in doubles.
 
UP NEXT
- The Blue Hose return home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. against preseason favorite Charleston Southern from the Templeton Tennis Courts.
