FARMVILLE, Va. – Junior Layna Johnson connected on a pair of home runs in game two as the Presbyterian College softball team defeated Longwood 6-0 to split Friday's doubleheader at Lancer Field. Longwood took game one by the score of 1-0 on Friday in Farmville.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME ONE
- Longwood got on the board with a solo homer in the fourth to take the 1-0 lead after both teams were held scoreless in the first three.
- It would be all the offense the hosts would need as starter Sydney Backstrom tallied 13 strikeouts to get the Lancers a 1-0 win in game one.
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME TWO
- Morgan Hess picked up a sacrifice fly that scored Layna Johnson in the first to push the Blue Hose to the early 1-0 lead.
- Johnson connected on her first homer of the day in the third to push the lead to 2-0.
- She tallied her second homer in as many at-bats in the fifth giving PC the advantage at 3-0.
- Lath Freeman connected on a two-run double followed by Jillian Hewes with an RBI single to push the Blue Hose to 6-0 final and a split of the twin bill.
NOTABLES
- Johnson led the Blue Hose in the twin bill with three hits as two of those were homers on Friday. She's connected on five homers on the season for PC.
- Hewes and Kaitlyn Tucker each tallied three hits as Jaiden Tweed added two in the doubleheader.
- In game two, Morgan Hess tossed her ninth complete game of the season along with her fifth shutout of the year. She hit the 100-strikeout mark with her four in the contest.
- Presbyterian improved to 16-2 when hitting at least one homer in a game. The Blue Hose are 7-0 when hitting 2+ long balls.
- The Blue Hose also improved to 22-2 when outhitting opponents with a 10-3 advantage in the game two 6-0 win.
