Blue Hose Defeated by UNC Asheville in Big South Quarterfinals

ASHEVILLE, N.C... –  The Presbyterian College women's tennis team battled to the end but came up short in Saturday's Big South quarterfinals falling by the score of 4-2 to No. 4 seed UNC Asheville at the Asheville Racquet Club in Asheville, N.C….

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Jessica Leeman and Claudia Sanchez tallied a win at the No. 1 doubles position by the count of 6-2. Asheville took the doubles point with a 6-4 and 67-5 win at the No.2 and 3 doubles positions to get out to the early 1-0 lead.
- The Bulldogs extended the lead to 2-0 with a straight-set victory at the No. 2 singles spot.
- UNC Asheville with a straight-set win at No. 5 singles extended the advantage to 3-0.
- Zeba Jamal got the Blue Hose on the board with a three-set rally at No. 1 singles to cut the deficit to 3-1.
- The Blue Hose continued to battle back with a three-set win from Piedra to cut the deficit down to 3-2.
- Asheville thwarted the Blue Hose comeback with a three-set win at No. 2 spot to allow the Bulldogs to advance to the semifinals.
