CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian Blue Hose (29-11, Big South: 14-6) swept the Winthrop Eagles (17-29, Big South: 10-10) in a doubleheader at the PC Softball Complex on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Hose behind the hitting of 
Morgan Hess and the pitching of 
Jenna Greene posted a 5-0 shutout win in game one. Presbyterian behind solid pitching from Hess and three RBIs from 
Lath Freeman defeated Winthrop, 4-3, in game two.
"I am really happy obviously anytime we can get two wins helps us in the conference standings," Presbyterian coach 
David Williams. "Our team was very resilient today."
   
GAME ONE
In the first inning, Hess connected on a two-run double to centerfield scoring 
Layna Johnson and 
Kaitlyn Tucker with the game's first two runs. In the fifth inning, Hess connected on a three-run home run over the centerfield wall giving the Blue Hose a 5-0 lead. Tucker and 
Jillian Hewes scored on the home run by Hess.
Greene recorded 11 strikeouts while scattering two hits in seven shutout innings to record her 14
th win of the season.
GAME TWO
In the first inning, Johnson scored the game's first run on Freeman's single to centerfield. Winthrop scored their first three runs of the series with three runs on three hits in the second inning. In the third inning, Freeman connected on another single to centerfield that scored Tucker and 
Haleigh Joyner tying the score at three. In the sixth inning, Presbyterian's 
Jaiden Tweed scored the go-ahead run on 
Kelby Goodrum's single to centerfield.
Hess recorded her 13
th win of the season after tallying 10 strikeouts while scattering five hits and allowing three runs in seven innings of work.
 
NOTABLES
	- With the doubleheader sweep, Presbyterian has now won 29 games which is a program record for wins in the Division I era.
- In game one, Johnson and Hess tallied two hits apiece.
- In game two, Tucker, Freeman, and Hewes each collected two hits. 
- Presbyterian's pitchers (Greene with 11, Hess with 10) struck out 21 Winthrop hitters in the two games.
