Big Fourth Inning Sends Wofford Past PC

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team could not overcome an eight-run fourth from the host Wofford as the Terriers recorded a 21-2 victory on Wednesday night at Russell C. King Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
-  Wofford jumped out to an early lead in the first inning with four runs in the opening frame to take the early advantage.
- The host added a two-run single in the third to push their lead 6-0 after three innings.
- The Terriers pushed across eight runs in the fourth highlighted in the frame by a three-run shot for the home team.
- Wofford added a solo homer in the fifth to take a 15-0 lead.
- Kyle Merkle got the Blue Hose on the board in the sixth with a two-run homer to deep left centerfield.
- Wofford responded in the sixth with a six-run frame en route to the win on Wednesday night.
 
NOTABLES
- Merkle connected on his first homer of the 2022 season in the sixth inning. Wednesday's homer is his seventh career long ball.
- DJ Butler tallied his second double of the season in the fifth inning.
