Home Opener
For the tenth time in the program's history, the Blue Hose begin the season at home. Since joining Division I, the Blue Hose are 6-8-1 all-time in their home opening game.
Presbyterian-Georgia Southern Series History
Thursday's game marks the ninth meeting between Presbyterian and Georgia Southern, who leads the all-time series, 5-2-1. This is the second straight season that the two teams have played each other in their season-opening game, the Eagles defeated the Blue Hose, 1-0, at home in last year's contest on August 26. The last time the two teams played in Clinton, South Carolina, the game ended in a 1-1 tie on October 18, 2016. The Blue Hose won the first ever game between the two teams with a 1-0 victory on October 12, 2010.
Scouting Georgia Southern
The Eagles return 10 letterwinners from last season's team which finished the year with a 4-12-1 record. The Eagles were picked to finish ninth in the preseason Sun Belt Conference poll. Georgia Southern head coach John Murphy is in his seventh season at the helm of the Eagles program. He has tallied a 36-53-10 record in his career at Georgia Southern.
