CLINTON, S.C. – Behind an early goal by
Lorenzo Nagy and a stout defensive effort, the Presbyterian Blue Hose (1-0) shutout the Georgia Southern Eagles (0-1), 1-0, in their season-opening game at Martin Stadium. Â Â Tonight's season-opening shutout victory marked the first time in Presbyterian's Division I era that they have begun a season with a shutout victory.

"Going into the game we felt that we were going to play a really tough opponent," Presbyterian coach
Jonathan Potter said. "I am so proud of the team for digging in and fighting particularly in the second half and coming out with the win. Every single player was committed to keeping a clean sheet."

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the ninth minute, Presbyterian's
Gerard Lopez made a run with the ball down the right side of Georgia Southern's goal box. He crossed the ball to Nagy who headed the ball into the back of the net for Presbyterian's first goal of the season.

NOTABLES
- Presbyterian finished the game with nine shots. Carson Griffith led the Blue Hose with three shots. Nagy and Lopez tallied two shots apiece. Ben Kaindu and Vidar Ragnarsson recorded Presbyterian's two other shots.
- Presbyterian freshman goalkeeper Leo Stritter made two saves while collecting his first career shutout. In the 23rd minute, Georgia Southern had their best scoring chance but a shot by Hilary Odhiambo was cleared off the line by Ragnarsson preserving the shutout.
