Blue Hose Cruise Past Southern Wesleyan on Senior Night

CLINTON, S.C. – Behind six different goal scorers and a solid all-around team effort, the Presbyterian Blue Hose (2-0-0) cruised past the Southern Wesleyan Warriors (0-2-0), 7-1, at Martin Stadium on Senior Night.

"We got to play a lot of guys tonight," said Presbyterian coach Jonathan Potter. "It was awesome to see different players get on the scoresheet. I thought every guy that played tonight played with a lot of energy. We took a lot from this game."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the 28th minute, Presbyterian's Chase Kennedy scored his first goal when he put the ball into the lower right corner of the goal off an assist by Nile Nguidjol.
Within the next minute, Presbyterian was fouled in the box and was awarded a penalty kick. Lorenzo Nagy converted on the penalty kick for his second goal of the season.
In the 34th minute, Kennedy scored his second goal of the game off a David Citron assist.
The Blue Hose increased their lead to 4-0 when Cheikh Atamao scored his first goal of the season off a Carson Griffith assist in the 62nd minute.
Then, just a minute later Citron pushed the Blue Hose lead to 5-0 when he scored off a Jordan Johnson assist.
In the 71st minute, Southern Wesleyan's Pedro Fonseca scored off a Caden DeFronzo assist.
In the 80th minute, Presbyterian's Nacho Gallego scored a goal off an assist from Tomas White.
In the 89th minute, Presbyterian's Voro Rivera Peris closed out the scoring when he scored off a Daniel Anani assist.
 
NOTABLES
  • Presbyterian's seven goals set the school record for goals scored in a game in the Blue Hose's Division I era.
  • Presbyterian finished the game with a 27-7 advantage on shots. Seventeen of PC's shots were on goal. Nagy and Rivera Peris led the Blue Hose with four shots apiece. Gallego, Lopez, and Citron recorded three shots apiece. Alonso Munoz, Johnson, Griffith, and Kennedy tallied two shots apiece. Atamao and Nguidjol contributed one shot apiece to the Blue Hose attack.
  • Presbyterian also finished the game with a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Before the game, Presbyterian honored seniors Gallego, Rivera Peris, Jose Lado, Gerard Lopez, and Cameron Zamudio on Senior Night.
