Volleyball Heads to Florida for Jacksonville Invitational

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team heads down to the sunshine state for the Jacksonville Invitational set to begin on Friday afternoon for the Blue Hose. PC is set to face Georgia State at 1 p.m. before facing Chattanooga at 4 p.m. The weekend wraps up on Saturday against the host Jacksonville beginning at 2 p.m.

Last Time Out...
The Presbyterian College volleyball team got in the win column on Saturday morning with a 3-1 victory (23-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-23) over Austin Peay at the Big Orange Bash in Clemson, S.C… The Blue Hose were paced by senior Paige Cairns with a career-high 15 kills. Sophomore Rylee Moorehead added 11 kills and 9 digs in the win. In the nightcap, the Blue Hose dropped a straight-set decision (22-25, 11-25, 20-25) to the host Clemson in the finale of the Big Orange Bash. Cairns led the offensive attack once again with 11 kills.
 
Head to Head...
Georgia State holds a tight 4-3 edge on the Blue Hose as the Panthers took a five-set match from PC last year in Atlanta... Chattanooga has won the only prior meeting against PC in the DI era winning in straight sets during the 2016 season... PC and Jacksonville are tied 3-3 in the all-time series with the Blue Hose winning in straight sets during the 2018 season in the last head-to-head...
 
Big South Preseason Poll...
The Presbyterian College volleyball team was tabbed fifth by the league coaches in the Big South preseason poll, as was announced on Wednesday by the conference office. The coaches voted junior outside hitter Dylan Maberry from High Point for the conference's Preseason Player of the Year and her teammate Maria Miggins as the league's Setter of the Year. Campbell's libero Claranne Fechter was named the Preseason's Defensive Player of the Year.
 
Scouting the Panthers...
Georgia State enters the weekend with an 0-3 mark after dropping home matches to Marist, Auburn and Belmont last weekend. Julianna Truscott led the Panthers in the opening weekend with 42 kills on the offensive end while Erin Wyatt recorded 31. On the defensive end, Livy Kowalkowski totaled a team-high 61 digs and Kayla Broom led the way with 14 blocks.
 
Scouting the Mocs...
Chattanooga begins the weekend coming off of a winless weekend that saw the Mocs drop contests against Santa Clara, Georgia and Troy. Natalie Tyson paced the Mocs last weekend with 26 kills. Paige Gallentine led Chattanooga defensively with 32 digs. The Mocs had 11 different players record a block last weekend in Athens.
 
Scouting the Dolphins...
The host Dolphins went winless at North Texas in matchups with the Mean Green, UTRGV and UNLV. Haley Hart led the Dolphins last weekend with 28 kills on the attack. Rebecca Rocassin led the Dolphins with 64 helpers. Lyric Love had a team-high 11 blocks at North Texas.
 
Sparkman Acing Opening Weekend...
The Boise, Idaho native set a career-high with a pair of matches recording four aces last weekend in Clemson. Sparkman had seven digs and four aces in the season opener against La. Tech. The Blue Hose DS added 11 digs along with another four aces in the Blue Hose win over the Governors. Sparkman paces the league with her eight aces through the opening weekend.
