SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Presbyterian College men's and women's cross country teams began the 2022 season on Friday night as the women's team led the Blue Hose with a 7th place finish in the Eye Opener at Roger Milliken Center in Spartanburg. Junior Keyli Gomez led the way for the women with a 21:04.4, while junior William Johnson led the men's team posting a 28:20.7

Notables
• Junior Keyli Gomez led the women in the 5k on Friday with a 21:04.4 for a 33rd place finish.
• Senior Lili Jaraczewski kicked off her senior year with a 36th place finish as she finished just ahead of freshman Isabel Whitman. Jaraczewski finished with a 21:14.5 as Whitman posted a 21:27.7 in her collegiate debut.
• Addison Meeker who was also making her collegiate debut on Friday finished with a 21:29.5.
• Julie Covil and Caroline Rairigh rounded out the race for PC in the 5k. Covil finished with a 22:27.9 and Rairigh recorded a 22:47.8.
• Furman won the team event on Friday, while Abigail Robertson of Furman won the individual title posting a time of 17:49.7. Robertson led a group of seven Paladins who finished 1-7 in Friday's race.
• Junior William Johnson paced the Blue Hose in Friday night's 8k with a 28:20.7 to finish in 39th place.
• Freshman Spencer Wieters and Samuel Wall both made their collegiate debut on Friday with Wieters recording a 30:33.8 and Wall posting a 30:44.4 in their respective debuts.
• Sophomore James Marler recorded a 33:29.7, while Ralph Guerra and Payton Hibler posted a 36:40.7 and 36:51.4 respectively.
• Furman won the team title, while Drew Topoly of Methodist took the individual title with a time of 24:56.9.
