PC Hosts Two Big South Conference Showdowns

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team continues Big South Conference home matches in the Templeton Center this weekend. First, the Blue Hose will play the High Point Panthers on Friday, October 13 at 6 p.m. Then, PC concludes the week of home matches against the Radford Highlanders on Saturday, October 14 at 2 p.m.

A LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
Presbyterian is ranked second in the Big South standings going into this weekend with conference wins over Charleston Southern, UNC Asheville, USC Upstate, and Gardner-Webb. Senior opposite, Kasey Battle leads the Blue Hose in kills with 169 (2.60 kpg), she has also recorded 35 blocks, and 90 digs. Sophomore setter, Anna Baranski leads the team in assists with 266 (4.93 apg), she also has 18 service aces, and 122 digs. Sophomore libero, Sophia Del Valle leads with 225 digs (3.75 dpg), she also has 59 assists, and 11 service aces.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT – HIGH POINT
The Panthers lead the Big South Conference with a 5-0 record after recording wins over Radford, Winthrop, Gardner-Webb, USC Upstate, and UNC Asheville. High Point won all five of these matches in three sets. Over the first 18 matches of the season High Point averaged 12.0 kpg while hitting at .224 percent. The Panthers stat leaders include Dylan Maberry who has recorded 278 kills (4.15 kpg) and 25 service aces, Allie Gray with 537 assists (8.52 apg), and Jordyn Schilling recording 243 digs (3.63 dpg). High Point leads the all-time series between the two teams 23-4. The Panthers are coached by Ryan Meek who is in his sixth season as head coach of High Point.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT – RADFORD
The Highlanders enter the weekend with a 3-11 record with wins over Iona, and two conference wins over UNC Asheville and USC Upstate. Over the first 14 games of the season Radford has recorded 10.41 kpg while averaging a .100 hitting percentage. The Highlanders stat leaders include Sierra Moore with 87 kills (2.02 kpg), Julia Slivka who had recorded 255 assists (5.20 apg) along with 14 service aces, Shelby Hernandez with 176 digs (3.59 dpg), and Summer Campbell recording five solo blocks and 29 block assists. The Highlanders lead the all-time series between the two teams 16-13. Radford is coached by Sherisa Livingston who is in her fourth year as head coach for the Highlanders.
