Rock Hill, S.C. – The Presbyterian College volleyball team (7-12, BSC: 5-3) fell to the Winthrop Eagles (8-11, BSC: 7-1) after three sets, 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-18).

How it Happened vs Winthrop
Set one started off in Winthrop's favor, 2-0, before the Blue Hose took three points in a row, led by a kill from
Julia Yurkovich. The Eagles scored two more points before they got an attack error which tied up the score at four apiece. After some back-and-forth the score was 7-6, when
Hannah Rowe and
Jordan McAda assisted a block which tied the score at seven apiece. Rowe then recorded a solo block which gave Presbyterian their first lead of the match at 8-7. After the Eagles took a few more, Rowe grabbed two kills which tied the score at 10 each.
Hailey Grocholski then recorded her first kill of the match to keep the score tied at 11. After a tie score of 12-12, Winthrop took the next two points. Kills by Yurkovich and
Courtney Williams evened out the score, 15-15. Winthrop took another point, but Yurkovich put down a solo block to keep the score tied. Then, Rowe grabbed another kill to tie it up at 17 apiece. Winthrop took a timeout after the Blue Hose took their second lead of the set at 18-17. PC continued to extend their lead with a kill from
Kasey Battle putting the score up to 20-18. Winthrop took the next two, but a kill from Rowe kept the Blue Hose lead, making it 21-20. PC takes their first timeout of the set after the Eagles take the lead 22-21. Winthrop scores again putting them up 23-21, and PC calls their second time out. Battle records a strong kill, but Winthrop took set one 25-22.

The Blue hose started out strong in set two after a block by
Anna Baranski and Grocholski with an additional kill from Rowe. A few errors from Winthrop then put the Blue Hose up 4-0. The Eagles were able to answer, scoring four of their own tying it up at four apiece. The Blue Hose then went on a three-point run taking their lead back 7-4. Winthrop took one point before a kill by Grocholski made the score 8-5. Kills from Battle and Yurkovich then put the score at 10-8. Winthrop took the next three points giving them a 11-10 lead. A service error by the Eagles and a kill from Rowe gives the Blue Hose a 12-11 lead. The Eagles scored four out of the next five points, before Battle records a kill making the score 15-14 with Winthrop leading by one. Battle and Yurkovich took a kill each bringing the Eagles lead down to one at a score of 17-16. Winthrop went on a six-point run which gave them a seven-point lead at a score of 23-16. Presbyterian was able to take two more points, led by a kill from Rowe, but ultimately the Eagles won set two with a score of 25-18.

The Blue Hose started set three off with a two-point run behind a kill from Grocholski. Winthrop answered with a four-point run, which gave them a 4-2 lead. The Eagles took a few more points, but a pair of kills from
Ashley Miller and one from Battle brought the Eagles lead down to one at a score of 9-8. Miller put down another kill, but Winthrop kept the pressure by taking a three-point lead with a score of 13-10. The Eagles won five out of the next seven points which put them ahead 18-12. Kills from Grocholski and Battle put the score at 20-14, with Winthrop in the lead. A solo block from Miller, and an assisted block from Williams and
Elyse Hutchinson put the score at 22-17. The Blue Hose were able to take another point, but Winthrop won set three 25-18.
