CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose volleyball team beat Charleston Southern after five sets 3-2 (25-13, 23-25, 25-23, 21-25, 17-15) on senior night this Friday in Templeton Center. This win secured a spot for the Blue Hose in the Big South Conference Tournament.

"It was a tough fought win tonight." Said Presbyterian coach
Steve Benson. "It was an up and down match, but we got the win. It was awesome to get the win on senior night and lock in the opportunity to compete in the conference tournament next week."

How it Happened vs Charleston Southern
It was tied at two apiece in the first set when the Blue Hose rallied for four points behind two kills from
Kasey Battle and an assisted block by
Jordan McAda and Battle. Charleston Southern took one back before PC scored six more with a service ace by
Kinsey Bailey, three kills from
Courtney Williams, and an assisted block by McAda and Williams. After some back and forth the score was in Presbyterian's favor 23-9. The Buccaneers took the next three-points, but
Julia Yurkovich ended their streak with a kill. Not long after
Hannah Rowe recorded a set ending kill to give the Blue Hose the first set of the night.

The second set started out even with a score of 4-4, when CSU took two more points to go ahead by two. The Blue Hose were able to score the next four-points behind two kills from Williams, one from Battle, and one from McAda. After some back and forth the score was tied at 11-points apiece. The Blue Hose rallied for five-points after kills from Battle and Rowe along with a service ace from Bailey and a solo block from
Hailey Grocholski. The Buccaneers were able to score seven of the next eight-points which put them ahead by one-point with a score of 18-17. Yurkovich tied it up at 18 with a much-needed kill for PC, but Charleston Southern scored five of the next seven-points to go back ahead by three with a score of 23-20. Presbyterian scored two more before CSU scored another to make the set even closer at a score of 24-22. With PC trailing by two Williams put down another kill, but the Buccaneers scored the next point to end the second set 25-23.

In set number three Charleston Southern started out winning 3-1 before the Blue Hose rallied for three straight points behind a kill from Yurkovich, a service ace from Grocholski, and an assisted block from Yurkovich and McAda. CSU scored seven of the next eight-points to take the lead with a score of 11-5. Williams helps PC grab the next two-points recording a block and a kill. Charleston Southern scored two more before the Blue Hose went on a 9-2 point run with a service ace from
Sophia Del Valle, two kills from Rowe, and three service aces in a row from Bailey. The Buccaneer took three more points while Grocholski recorded two kills which put the score at 19-17 with the Buccaneers in the lead. Presbyterian scored six of the next seven points to make the score 23-20 in their favor. CSU tied the score up at 23-points apiece but a Buccaneer attack error followed by a kill from Williams gave the Blue Hose a 2-1 set advantage over Charleston Southern.

The Buccaneers won the first two-points of the fourth set before two kills and a solo block from Grocholski gave PC the lead 4-2. CSU answered, scoring 10 of the next 12-points, which gave them a 12-6 lead. After some back and forth the score was 15-11 when the Blue Hose scored five of the next six-points and tied up the set at 16-points apiece. The Buccaneers answered with a 6-2 rally which put them ahead 21-17. PC was down by two-points when CSU scored two more to make the score 24-21. Presbyterian was able to score one more before the Buccaneers ended the set 25-21, sending the match into sudden death.

Charleston Southern scored the first two-points of the final set before kills from Rowe, Battle, and Yurkovich put the score at 4-2. After some back and forth the Blue Hose scored six of the next nine-points after service aces from
Courtney Aulbaugh and Bailey with kills from Rowe and Yurkovich. The score was in PC's favor 10-8 when they scored two-more to go up by four-points with another kill from Williams and a service ace from Bailey. CSU scored the next four-points to tie the score at 12 apiece. After some back and forth and a tie score of 14-14 it was a win by two, final fifth set. The Buccaneers scored first which gave them match point. A game saving kill from McAda ties the set back up before Yurkovich records another kill to put PC in front with match point. With a score of 16-15 Williams and McAda knocked down a block to win the final set and the match.
