WICHITA, KAN. – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose women's basketball team was unable to come out on the winning side on Wednesday afternoon as the Blue Hose suffered a 60-41 defeat to the host Wichita State in the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas. Senior Guard

"We did a lot of good things today on both ends of the floor. We got really good looks offensively but the ball would just not fall. Defensively we executed the game plan and fought hard on the glass. We will regroup quick and get ready for Saturday."

Scoring the Game
An early layup by
Bryanna Brady put Presbyterian up by two. Wichita answered with two-points of their own but the Blue Hose then scored four more points to go up 6-2 behind layups by
Aubrie Kierscht and Tilda Sjokvist. The Shockers then tied the game up at six-points apiece after two made baskets about halfway through the first quarter. Wichita went up by four with a score of 10-6 before
Christina Kline drilled a corner three to make it a one-point game. The Shockers scored another two-points to make the score 12-9 at the end of the first quarter.

Wichita started off the second quarter with a 11-0 run which gave them a 14-point lead with six and a half minutes left in the first half.
Ashley Carrillo made a pull up jumper to give PC their first points of the second quarter, but the Shockers answer with two-points of their own. Kline made another two-point jumper but once again Wichita answered with two of their own. Kline made another layup which brought Wichita's lead down to 11 with a score of 26-15 about half way through the second quarter. The Shockers are in the bonus and made two foul shots to go up 28-15. Kline answers with two foul shots of her own which gave her nine-points so far in this first half. Wichita scored five out of the next seven-points to end the first half with a score of 31-17.

The third quarter started out with a made layup by Wichita before Carrillo answered with two-points herself to make the score 33-19. Some more back and forth put the score up to 37-22 with another basket by Carrillo and a made free throw by Sjokvist. The Shockers scored the next five points before Kline made another layup to put the score at 42-24 with two minutes to go in the third quarter. Both teams scored two more points before the third quarter ended with a score of 44-26.

After no points scored in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter Wichita scored the first four-points to go up by 22-points which made the score 48-26.
Laney Scoggins was fouled and made her first shot before a fast break layup for Wichita made the score 50-27. Scoggins then hit a corner three-pointer and
Sonia Sato made a layup to put the score at 50-32. The Shockers made a driving layup, but
Natalie Herrin answers with a driving layup of her own. Wichita made a free throw and then Sjokvist hit a two-point jumper which made the score 53-36. The Shockers outscored PC 7-5 in the last two minutes of the game even though Herrin hit a three-point jumper with 26 seconds to go. Wichita walked away with the 60-41 victory over PC.

Christina Kline led the Blue Hose with 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting as she also grabbed six rebounds.
Ashley Carrillo led the team with five assists while also putting up six points, five rebounds, and a steal.
Laney Scoggins brought in eight rebounds while scoring six-points. Tre'zure Jobe led all scorers on Wednesday with 13-points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field as she also recorded a block and a steal. Daniela Abies shot 6-of-10 from the field for 12-points, five rebounds, a block, and a steal.

PC was held to 27.4% (17-of-62) from the floor as Wichita posted a 39.0% (25-of-64) on Wednesday afternoon. Presbyterian connected on three three-pointers compared to one from Wichita. The hosts went 9-of-17 at the foul line, while PC went 4-of-8. The Shockers had a slight 46-44 edge on the glass while both teams had 13 offensive rebounds. Wichita had an 18-15 advantage in bench points. The Shockers forced 17 Blue Hose turnovers compared to 10 by the hosts. The Shockers had 44 points in the paint compared to Presbyterian's 22.
