PC Travels to Las Vegas for a Pair of Games at the Holiday Hoops Classic

LAS VEGAS, NV – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose women's basketball team (8-4) is set for two matches at the Holiday Hoops Classic from Thursday, Dec. 21 to Friday, Dec. 22. First, PC will face the Eastern Washington Eagles (6-3) on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. ET. The following day, the Blue Hose will play against the Wright State Raiders (6-5) at 5:30 p.m. ET.

LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose fell to the No. 1 South Carolina Gamecocks last week on the road with a final score of 99-29. Tilda Sjokvist recorded her eighth double figure scoring game after leading the team with 15 points. PC totaled 12 points in the paint and 12 points off the bench.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Eastern Washington enters the tournament with a 6-3 record after wins over Southern Utah, Utah State, Corban, Tarleton, Boise State, and Walla Walla. The Eagles average 72.9 points per game and 37.1 rebounds per game. Redshirt sophomore guard Aaliyah Alexander leads the team with 15.8 ppg while graduate student guard Jamie Loera averages 11.6 ppg and leads the team with 5.5 apg and 2.1 spg.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Wright State enters the tournament with a 6-5 record after wins over Mount Vernon Nazarene, Indiana State, Slippery Rock, Marshall, IUPUI, and Eastern Illinois. The Raiders average 71.7 points per game and 34.5 rebounds per game. Graduate student guard Alexis Hutchison leads the team with 18.8 ppg, 3.0 apg, and 1.5 spg. Redshirt senior guard Layne Ferrell averages 12.1 ppg and leads the team with 1.8 bpg.
 
BLUE HOSE DOUBLE FIGURE SCORERS
Over their first 12 games, Presbyterian has already had nine different players score in double-figures. Brady (eight times), Sjökvist (eight times), Kierscht (three times), Neira (five times), Carrillo (once), Kline (once), Kindseth (once), Herrin (once), and Cunill (twice) have all tallied double-digit scoring games this season.
 
BIG SOUTH STAT LEADERS
Presbyterian is currently ranked first in the Big South Conference standings with an 8-4 record after a six-game win streak. The Blue Hose lead the conference with a 40.0 field goal percentage, a +3.7-rebounding margin, 13.2 assists per game, a 0.7 assist to turnover ratio, and an average of 26.3 defensive rebounds per game. The team has three players who are ranked within the top 10 in the conference for scoring, Bryanna Brady (12.5 ppg), Tilda Sjokvist (12.0 ppg), and Mara Neira (11.4 ppg). Ashley Carrilo is ranked fifth in the conference for averaging 2.8 assists per game, while Sjokvist is right behind her with 2.7 assists per game. Brady's 79.2 free throw percentage ranks her third in the Big South. Neira (2.3) and Sjokvist (1.9) are both ranked in the top six for three-point field goals per game.

Thursday marks the first time that these two teams have met in Presbyterian's Division I history. Eastern Washington made the switch to Division I in the summer of 1983.

Friday marks the first time that these two teams have met in Presbyterian's Division I history. Wright State made the transition to Division I in 1987.
