Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

PC Falls to EWU on Day One of the Holiday Hoops Classic

LAS VEGAS, NV – The Presbyterian College Blue Hose women's basketball team (8-5) lost to the Eastern Washington Eagles (7-3) 92-51 on Thursday afternoon.

COACH SHARP'S THOUGHTS
"EWU is a good basketball team and we came out really slow and dug and big hole. I thought we responded in the 3rd quarter and played better but unfortunately the game was too far gone by then. The good thing is we don't have to sit on it long we can turn the page and find a way to bounce back tomorrow."

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter – Mara Neira started the game off strong with a three-pointer, but EWU went on to take the next 13 points. A PC timeout set up a two-point jumper from Sjokvist before the Eagles scored 11 of the next 13 points. Paige Kindseth scored two in the paint jumpers before the end of the quarter, but Eastern Washington held a 15-point lead with a score of 26-11.

Second Quarter – The Eagles scored 15 of the first 19 points of the second quarter to increase their lead to 26 points with a score of 41-15. A layup in the paint by Kindseth gave the Blue Hose two more points, but EWU answered with four points of their own. After some back and forth, the Eagles sent the game to halftime winning 54-25.

Third Quarter – The third quarter seemed much more evenly matched, as PC came out of the locker room very put together. As a team, PC scored 19 points this quarter while shooting at 45.5% from the field. EWU was up by 32 points in the beginning of the third quarter, and the quarter ended with the Eagles winning by 33 points and a score of 77-44. With no time left Eastern Washington pulled off a wild buzzer beater from half court to close out the quarter.

Fourth Quarter – Presbyterian was held to just seven points in the final quarter of play, and Eastern Washington took the victory with a final score of 92-51.
