Behind three double-figure scorers, the Presbyterian Blue Hose battled the Big South leader UNC Asheville Bulldogs down to the wire before coming up short in a 76-72 loss at the Templeton Center on Saturday afternoon.
 
Marquis Barnett scored a career-high 21 points on 8-for-9 shooting from the field. Trevon Reddish-Rhone scored 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out five assists. Kobe Stewart scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds off the bench.
 
BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
Jalen Forrest, who leads all freshmen in the Big South in scoring, is Presbyterian's leading scorer averaging 11.4 points per game. Forrest leads the Blue Hose in free throws made (80) and attempted (104). Crosby James, who has scored in double-figures 13 times, is second on the team in scoring averaging 9.8 points per game. James has connected on a team-leading 36 three-point field goals made. Barnett averages 9.0 points per game and is second on the team in rebounding averaging 4.9 boards per game. Terrell Ard, Jr. leads the Blue Hose in rebounding averaging 5.7 boards per game. Ard averages 7.5 points per game. Reddish-Rhone averages 6.9 points while dishing out a team-leading 2.4 assists per game. Stewart averages 7.0 points while grabbing 4.1 rebounds per game. Owen McCormack averages 7.5 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while connecting on 33 three-point field goals. 
 
NOTES
FORREST BIG SOUTH FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK FOUR TIMES - Forrest has been named Big South Freshman of the Week four times (November 28, January 9, January 16 and January 30). He is the fourth player in the program's history to earn at least four Big South Freshman of the Week awards.
 
BENCH POINTS - Presbyterian behind the double-figure scoring performances from Forrest, Stewart, Houston Jones, and Quadir Pettaway, off the bench in the win over Allen (December 19, 2022), the Blue Hose scored a season-high 58 bench points. This marked the most bench points scored by the Blue Hose since tallying 67 bench points in a home win over UNC Asheville on March 5, 2019. In the 2018-19 season, the Blue Hose recorded four games with at least 51 bench points.

This season, Presbyterian has had 20 double-figure scoring games off the bench. The Blue Hose average 20.2 points per game off the bench this season.
 
OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS - This season, Presbyterian averages 10.67 offensive boards per game. The Blue Hose have recorded 14 double-figure offensive rebounds games (Carolina University - November 7, at The Citadel - November 10, at East Carolina - November 12, at UAB, November 16, vs. Bucknell - November 21, VMI - November 29, Elon - December 15, Allen - December 19, Campbell - December 29, January 4, at Winthrop, Charleston Southern - January 7, at USC Upstate - January 18, at UNC Asheville - January 25, and Radford - February 1). The Blue Hose grabbed a season-high 20 offensive boards at Winthrop on January 4, 2023.
 
COACH FERRELL - Quinton Ferrell is in his fourth season as the head coach of his alma mater, Presbyterian College. Ferrell, a former Blue Hose team captain and a 2007 PC graduate, is one of 52 coaches in the NCAA Division I ranks that are coaching their alma maters.
 
PRESBYTERIAN-HIGH POINT SERIES
Wednesday's game will be the 34th meeting between Presbyterian and High Point, who leads the all-time series 22-11. In the previous meeting between the two teams earlier this season, High Point defeated Presbyterian, 64-56, at home on January 14. Forrest scored 15 points and McCormack tallied 12 points in the game.

Junior guard Jaden House ranks third in the Big South Conference in scoring, averaging 17.3 points per game. Redshirt sophomore guard Abdoulaye Thiam is second on the Panthers and seventh in the Big South Conference in scoring chipping in with 13.8 points per game. Redshirt sophomore forward Zach Austin is ninth in the Big South in scoring at 13.6 points per game. High Point averages 74.7 points per game while their opponents average 78.3 points per game.
