Blue Hose Begin Pursuit of 2023 Big South Championships on Thursday against Radford

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's basketball team is set to begin its pursuit of the 2023 Hercules Tires Big South Championship on Thursday with a 2 p.m. quarterfinal tip against Radford from Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C…. The Blue Hose and Highlanders quarterfinal matchup will be shown on ESPN+ from Charlotte.

- The Blue Hose are set to open the 2023 conference tournament on Thursday with a matchup against Radford from Charlotte. The two teams met twice during the conference season as both defended their home courts this year.

Brady Leads Quartet Earning Big South Postseason Honors
- Ahead of the Big South Championship later this week, the league office announced its annual awards on Tuesday, with numerous Presbyterian College women's basketball players receiving honors. Fifth-year senior center Bryanna Brady earned a spot on Second Team All-Conference, while freshman Aubrie Kierscht and Tilda Sjökvist earned spots on the league's All-Freshman Team. Additionally, sophomore Paige Kindseth was selected to the league's All-Academic Team.

Season Series vs the Highlanders
- In Clinton, The Presbyterian College women's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack and the power of 13 threes to push past Radford on Saturday afternoon by a score of 78-65 inside the Templeton Center. Tilda Sjökvist led the Blue Hose with 21 points, nine assists, and five rebounds as Aubrie Kierscht scored a career-high 17 points connecting on five threes in the victory.
- At Radford, The Presbyterian College women's basketball team battled tight thru three quarters with host Radford, but the Highlanders opened the fourth on a 15-0 run as the hosts grabbed the 71-50 victory inside the Dedmon Center on Wednesday night. Bryanna Brady led the Blue Hose with 14 points in the contest.

Blue Hose in the Big South Tournament
- Thursday marks the 11th time PC has taken part in the Big South Championship and the Blue Hose are set to face Radford for the third time in a conference tournament setting. Radford defeated PC 41-38 in the 2013 tournament before the Highlanders downed PC 60-49 in the 2019 second round.

Blue Hose Closing in on Multiple Team Records
- As a team, the Blue Hose enter the final week of the regular season close to multiple team records on the 2022-23 season. PC has scored 1,879 points and needs just 2 points to break the DI record for a PC team. The Blue Hose have tallied 1,104 rebounds and need eight rebounds to eclipse the milestone.

Blue Hose Set Numerous Team Records
- In the third quarter on the road against High Point, Kierscht connected on the team's 651st field goal as a team setting a new DI single-season record for the Blue Hose for field goals made in a season. The previous high of 650 was set during the 2015-16 and 2021-22 seasons. Brady leads the way for PC with 148 field goals.
- With their 15 assists on Saturday, the Blue Hose surpassed the program DI team single-season record for assists in a year with 415. Carrillo had the assist to reach the milestone.
- Cunill's third defensive rebound on Saturday pushed the team into another team milestone, with the new benchmark being set for defensive rebounds in a season at now 810.

Blue Hose Filling Up the Basket in League Play
- In league play, the Blue Hose are third in points/game averaging 65.7 in the 2023 conference season. PC has eclipsed 66+ points in 10 conference games after the 76 points scored over UNC Asheville late in the season. Bryanna Brady leads the offense with 13.8 points/game as Aubrie Kierscht is averaging 10.6 ppg.

Scouting Radford
- Radford enters play with an identical 13-16 record which includes the same 9-9 league record as the Blue Hose tallied the same record throughout the 2022-23 season. The Highlanders are led by the freshman of the year in Ashlyn Traylor who's averaging 12.7 points/game and 5.9 rebounds to go along with 95 assists and 60 steals. Rachel LaLonde is averaging 9.3 ppg and a team-high 8.9 rebounds/game on the season. Carmen Williams along with Ashley Panem each have 30 threes to lead Radford. Vanessa Blake has been a force for Radford as she's tallied a 61.5% field goal percentage and pulled down a team-high 80 offensive rebounds. The Highlanders come in winning their last two over HPU and Campbell.

Head-to-Head vs. Radford
- Radford holds a 25-9 all-time lead in the DI era over Presbyterian with the Blue Hose winning four of the last six meetings with PC earning the 78-65 on Dec. 31 in Clinton. In the New Year's Eve victory, PC was led by Sjökvist who totaled 21 points and nine assists in 40 minutes as the Blue Hose defeated Radford by 13. The Highlanders returned the favor at home with a 71-50 victory over PC to even the series at one.

Kierscht Nabs Big South Freshman of the Week Honors
- Freshman Aubrie Kierscht has been named the Big South Freshman of the Week following the Blue Hose wins over Longwood and UNC Asheville, as announced by the league office on Monday. The Salina, Kan. native tallied 12.5 points/per game while connecting on a team-high eight threes in Presbyterian's two wins over the Lancers and Bulldogs. She also pulled down seven rebounds over the two contests.

Brady Filling Up the Basket in League
- Brady has scored double figures in 12 of 18 conference contests highlighted by a career-high 29-point performance against Gardner-Webb. Brady is averaging a team-high 13.8 points/game in league play. Brady has tallied 17 double-figure scoring games overall with 12 of those happening in league contests including 11 of the last 16 times the Blue Hose have taken the floor this season.

Kierscht Heating Up from Beyond the Arc
- The Blue Hose freshman continues to light it up from beyond the arc especially in conference play for PC as Kierscht has connected on 48 threes in league action highlighted by a season-high six against Winthrop. Kierscht has made a team-high 64 on the season which puts her in second in the Big South as she's connected on multiple threes in 14 contests this season.

Sjökvist Racking Up the Helpers
- The Huskvarna, Sweden native continues to rack up the assists throughout the 2022-23 season as Sjökvist has totaled 103 assists this season including 61 of those coming in league games. She sits second in the league in assists with her 103 helpers as she's also third in the conference with 3.6 assists/game. She's had eight games this season with 5+ assists.
