PC Drops Pair at Eastern Kentucky

RICHMOND, KY. – The Presbyterian College baseball team dropped a doubleheader on Saturday to the host Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels recorded a 1-0 win in seven innings game one before a 5-3 victory in the series finale at Earle Combs Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED GAME ONE
- The Colonels got on the scoreboard first with a solo homer in the second to get the early advantage which was enough for EKU to take game one by a score of 1-0 to clinch the series win for the hosts.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED GAME TWO
- PC got on the board first in game two with a solo home run off the bat of Chase Hughes that pushed PC to the early advantage.
- The Blue Hose continued the offensive push in the second with a Kyle Decker RBI single that increased the lead to 2-0 after 1.5 innings.
- Eastern Kentucky answered in its half of the second inning pushing across four runs in the inning to take a 4-2 lead.
- The Colonels added an RBI single in the eighth to push the lead to 5-2.
- Noah Lebron tallied an RBI single in the ninth before the hosts clinched a 5-3 win to finish off the three-game sweep on Saturday evening.
 
NOTABLES
- After reaching base in both games on Saturday, junior Jack Gorman has now reached base safely in all 16 games to begin the 2023 season.
- Gorman finished the week going 8-of-18 (.444) with three doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. The Memphis, Tenn. native also tallied four steals.
- In game two, Hughes connected on his first homer of the 2023 season marking his fifth career homer as a member of the Blue Hose.
- Brody Fahr has now reached base safely in 13 consecutive games as he tallied a double in game one followed by earning two walks in the second contest on Saturday.
- In the second game, Charlie McDaniel tallied a season-high with eight strikeouts in the six innings he pitched.

-  The Blue Hose continue a road swing on Tuesday with a trip to Founders Park to face South Carolina at 7 p.m. on SEC Network Plus.
