Men’s Tennis Travels to Virginia for Big South Match Against Radford

The Presbyterian Blue Hose (12-9, Big South: 2-1) return to Big South Conference play with a road match in Virginia against the Radford Highlanders (8-6, Big South: 2-1) on Tuesday, April 4 at 3 p.m. The match pits the last two Big South Conference Tournament winners against each other with Presbyterian defeating Radford to win the 2021 title, while Radford captured last season's title.
 
The Blue Hose are on a four-match winning streak.
 
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARD
Last week, for the fifth time this season a Blue Hose player was named Big South Freshman of the Week after Denim Yadav claimed the honor. Yadav (February 22, March 8, March 29) and David Mamalat (January 25, March 22) have captured the league's freshman of the week award this season
 
Dusan Milanovic (January 18) and Max Benson (January 25) claimed the first two Big South Player of the Week awards handed out this season. On March 8, Javier Matos was named Big South Co-Player of the Week.
 
NATIONAL RANKINGS
The doubles team of Benson and Milanovic is ranked No.50 in the ITA doubles rankings. Milanovic is ranked No. 67 in the ITA singles rankings.
 
SPRING SEASON RESULTS
This season in singles play, Milanovic, who has won eight straight matches, has a 15-2 record at number one singles. Matos has won 11 straight matches giving him 14 wins. Benson, who has won four straight matches, has tallied 12 wins this spring. Yadav has eight wins while Sebastian Dominguez has collected seven wins.
 
Presbyterian has captured the doubles point 14 times this season. The doubles tandems of Dominguez and Matos and Benson and Milanovic are tied for the team lead with 10 wins apiece.
 
RADFORD
Radford defeated the Presbyterian, 4-3, in their previous match which came at the Templeton Tennis Courts on March 27, 2022. Milanovic, Dominguez, and former Blue Hose stalwart Nicholas McKinney collected singles wins in that match. Presbyterian's last win in the series was a 4-3 victory in the Big South Championship Finals on April 17, 2021. Benson, Matos, McKinney, and former Blue Hose standout Daniel Stenger collected singles wins to propel the Blue Hose to the Big South Championship.
 
This season, Radford has won six of their last eight matches entering their home match against Bluefield State on Monday, April 3. Aditya Balsekar and Demis Taramonlis lead the Highlanders with eight wins apiece. The doubles tandem of Taramonlis and Konstantinos Raptis lead Radford with nine wins.
