PC Faces UNC Asheville On The Road In Big South Opener

The Presbyterian Blue Hose play the UNC Asheville Bulldogs on the road in their Big South Conference opener on Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
Last Tuesday, the Blue Hose recorded a 1-0 shutout victory over Jacksonville at Martin Stadium. Carson Griffith scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 83rd minute. The Blue Hose defense collected their second shutout of the season, Goalkeeper Beatty Murray tallied four saves in the game.  
 
BIG SOUTH OPENER
Since 2016, the Blue Hose have posted a 5-1-1 record in their Big South opening game. During that stretch, PC beat High Point, Winthrop, Campbell, Longwood and Radford.
 
BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
Victor Faaborg Christensen and Griffith are tied for the team lead with three goals. Sandro Rabarivony, Jose Gutierrez, Chase Kennedy, Ryan Galloway, and Jordan Johnson have scored goals this season. Diego Hernandez leads PC with 10 shots. Iragi Kalala, Damorny Hutchinson, and Faaborg Christensen are tied for second on the team with eight shots apiece.
 
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY HONORS
On August 28, Faaborg Christensen was named Big South Freshman of the Week after recording a hat trick in PC's 8-1 win over Southern Wesleyan. Faaborg Christensen is the seventh player in the program's history to earn Big South Freshman of the Week honors.

PRESBYTERIAN-UNC ASHEVILLE SERIES
Saturday's game will be the 16th meeting between Presbyterian and UNC Asheville, who leads the all-time series, 8-4-3. In the last game, Presbyterian and UNC Asheville tied, 1-1, at Martin Stadium on October 5, 2022. Former Blue Hose standout Nacho Gallego scored Presbyterian's goal. Presbyterian defeated UNC Asheville, 2-1, in their last game at Asheville on October 16, 2021. Nile Nguidjol scored the game-winning goal in the 61st minute.     
 
SCOUTING UNC ASHEVILLE
The Bulldogs enter the game with a 5-2-1 record with wins over Navy, Queens, Evansville, VMI, and ETSU and a tie with Wofford and losses to Georgia Southern and Georgia State. UNC Asheville has
