SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Presbyterian College Volleyball Team (5-9, BSC: 3-0) won their fourth consecutive match with a score of 3-1 (12-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-23) after a win over the USC Upstate Spartans (9-6, BSC: 2-1).

Steve Benson said. "We played hard all weekend. We got better and worked as a team throughout the weekend."
How it Happened vs. USC Upstate
In the first set the Spartans quickly gained an advantage going up 5-0. The Blue Hose were able to get a few points off of service errors by Upstate, but the Spartans continued to extend their lead making the score 8-2.
Ashley Miller stepped up for PC hitting back to back kills, but Upstate answered with two of their own putting the score at 10-4. Throughout the next 13 points
Hannah Rowe had two kills and Miller had one, but Upstate scored seven more pushing their lead up to eight with a score of 17-9. The Spartans finished this set only allowing Presbyterian to score three more points. Upstate takes the first set 25-12.
The Blue Hose started off much stronger in the second set, managing to pull ahead 7-2 after kills by
Kasey Battle and Miller, along with service aces from
Anna Baranski and Miller. The Spartans are able to score five of the next eight points tightening PC's lead to three with a score of 10-7. The Blue Hose were able to maintain their lead at a score of 16-13 after two kills from Miller and one from Battle. Through the next eight points PC takes six of them with kills from Battle and Miller, and a service ace from
Sophia Del Valle making the score 22-15. Presbyterian maintains the lead and wins the set 25-19 with a set-ending kill from Battle.
With a tied match at 1-1, the third set was very back and forth with neither team taking more than a three-point lead. There was a total of 10 tied-up points throughout the entirety of the third set, and the Blue Hose were able to score on seven of them. Battle had a great set with five kills and a .308 hitting percentage.
Miller and Battle scored the first four points of the fourth set with two kills each. The set was tied at four apiece when Upstate scored five of the next six points taking the lead 9-5. They increased their lead racing ahead by seven with a score of 16-9. After a kill from
Julia Yurkovich and some attacking errors by the Spartans, PC took Upstate's lead down to five with a score of 19-14. This is when the Blue Hose picked up the pace and went on a 7-2 run behind two kills from Miller and one from Yurkovich.
Courtney Aulbaugh and Bailey also added to Presbyterian efforts, each with service aces. This put the score to 21 apiece. Kills from both sides then make the score tied at 23. With the game on the line Battle steped up and delivered two kills to win the match for the Blue Hose 25-23.
