PC traveled to Rock Hill, S.C. earlier this week where they took victory over the Winthrop Eagles with a final score of 59-43.
Mara Neira scored her second consecutive 20 plus point game after shooting 7-of-8 from distance and totaling 21 points. Tilda Sjokvist totaled nine points, eight assists, and six rebounds.
Bryanna Brady and
Paige Kindseth also added 10 points apiece to the Blue Hose's efforts. The team shot 60 percent (12-of-20) three point field goals, which is the first time the team has shot this well from distance since the 2018-19 season.
SCOUTING THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
Gardner-Webb has a 1-14 record with a 82-78 win over Appalachian State. Over their first 15 games the Runnin' Bulldogs have averaged 58.2 points and 34.3 rebounds per game. Junior guard Ashley Hawkins leads the team with an average of 14.5 ppg and 4.9 apg. Graduate student forward Keita Ramatoulaye leads the team with 7.5 rpg while averaging a 45.9 field goal percentage with 4.8 ppg.
BLUE HOSE DOUBLE FIGURE SCORERS
Over their first 18 games, Presbyterian has already had nine different players who have scored in double-figures. Brady (12 times), Sjökvist (11 times), Neira (eight times), Kierscht (three times), Cunill (twice), Kindseth (twice), Carrillo (once), Kline (once), and Herrin (once) have all tallied double-digit scoring games this season.
PRESBYTERIAN – GARDNER-WEBB SERIES
Saturday marks the 33rd time that these two teams have met since Presbyterian joined Division I in 2007. Their first game was in the 2008-09 season where Gardner-Webb won 56-48. The last time that Presbyterian beat the Runnin' Bulldogs was during the 2020-21 season when PC won 69-60. The all-time series between the two teams is tied at 16 wins apiece.

As a team, Presbyterian leads the conference with a 31.5 three-point field goal percentage, 13.5 assists per game, a 0.7 assist to turnover ratio, a +3.2-rebounding margin, and 26.3 defensive rebounds per game. The team is also ranked second for shooting at 39.4 percent from the field. Individually, the Blue Hose have three players who are ranked in the top 10 in scoring, Neira is ranked sixth for her 13.0 ppg, Brady is listed at seventh with 12.3 ppg, and Sjokvist is in ninth with 12.1 ppg. Sjokvist is also ranked third for averaging 3.4 apg while
Ashley Carrillo is tied for fifth with 2.6 apg. Neira leads the league in three-point field goal percentage with 35.5 and is currently second in the Big South with an average of 2.6 three-point field goals per game and Sjokvist is in sixth with 1.9.
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARDS
Presbyterian beat the Columbia College Koalas 62-53 on Sunday, December 31. Brady scored a new season-high of 27 points while shooting 73.3% (11-of-15) from the field. She also shot 62.5% (5-of-8) from the free throw line and dished out two assists. Defensively, Brady helped the team hold the Koalas to no points for almost 11 minutes in the second half. She added four rebounds and a block to her efforts. This is the second time that Brady earned this award and the fourth Big South Player of the Week award that the Blue Hose have received so far this season.
