The Blue Hose welcomed the Columbia College Koalas to Templeton Center last Sunday, December 31 where Presbyterian took the victory with a score of 63-52. Brady scored a new season-high of 27 points while shooting 73.3% (11-of-15) from the field. She also shot 62.5% (5-of-8) from the free throw line and dished out two assists. As a team the Blue Hose came down with 31 rebounds in the first half, and finished with 51 (25 offensive, 26 defensive). PC recorded 18 assists, 10 steals, and had 36 points in the paint. They held Columbia College scoreless from 5:11 in the third quarter to 3:53 in the fourth quarter while they went on a 17-point run.
SCOUTING THE BUCCANEERS
Charleston Southern has a 3-10 record with wins over Mercer, SC State, and Francis Marion. The Buccaneers average 58.5 points per game and 39.5 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Catherine Alben leads the team with 15.3 ppg, 1.5 spg, and a 37.5 three-point field goal percentage. Redshirt senior forward Kennedi Jackson has averaged 11.9 ppg, and 5.5 rpg with a 41.4 field goal percentage.
BLUE HOSE DOUBLE FIGURE SCORERS
Over their first 15 games, Presbyterian has already had nine different players who have scored in double-figures. Brady (10 times), Sjökvist (nine times), Neira (six times), Kierscht (three times), Cunill (twice), Carrillo (once), Kline (once), Kindseth (once), and Herrin (once) have all tallied double-digit scoring games this season.
PRESBYTERIAN – CHARLESTON SOUTHERN SERIES
Wednesday marks the 32
nd time that these two teams have met since Presbyterian joined Division I in 2007. The first time that these two teams met was in the 2007-08 season where the Buccaneers won 74-51. The last time we saw action between the two teams was last season where the Blue Hose won 64-53. Presbyterian leads the all-time series between the two teams with a 18-13 record.

As a team, Presbyterian leads the conference with 13.5 assists per game and a 0.8 assist to turnover ratio. The team is also ranked second for shooting at 39.0% from the field and for recording a +2.7-rebounding margin. Individually, the Blue Hose have three players who are ranked in the top 11 in scoring Brady is ranked sixth for her 12.7 ppg, Neira is listed at seventh with 12.1 ppg, and Sjokvist is in 11th her with 11.3 ppg. Sjokvist is also ranked third for averaging 3.2 apg and sixth for her 1.7 three-point field goals per game. Neira is currently second in the Big South with an average of 2.4 three-point field goals per game and
Ashley Carrillo is ranked sixth for her 2.7 apg.
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARDS
Mara Neira was named the Big South Player of the Week (December 11) after the Blue Hose beat Queens in a 22-point comeback. Neira scored a new season-high of 24 points while shooting 50% from the field (8-of-16) and from outside the arc (4-of-8). She also was one of the leading rebounders after grabbing two offensive boards and four defensive rebounds. She made four of her six free throws with three of them occurring with less than a minute of play in the game. Neira's performance allowed Presbyterian to secure the victory and record their fifth consecutive win of the season. This is the third player from Presbyterian to earn Big South Player of the Week so far this season.
