LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose fell to the Radford Highlanders on the road last Saturday afternoon with a final score of 65-40. Bryanna Brady led the team with 12 points while also recording four blocks, two assists, and shooting a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Natalie Herrin added 11 points, six rebounds, and a steal.
 
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
USC Upstate has a 6-1 conference record with wins over UNC Asheville, Winthrop, Charleston Southern, Radford, High Point, and Gardner-Webb. The Spartans have averages 59.5 points per game and 34.7 rebounds per game throughout their 20 games so far this season. Graduate student forward Isabell West leads the team with an average of 11.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 0.6 bpg, a 56-field goal percentage, and a 50 three-point field goal percentage. Graduate student point guard Trinity Johnson leads the Spartans with an average of 4.4 apg and 2.1 spg, while scoring 9.1 ppg.
 
BLUE HOSE DOUBLE FIGURE SCORERS
Over their first 22 games, Presbyterian has had nine different players who have scored in double-figures. Brady (16 times), Sjökvist (14 times), Neira (11 times), Herrin (three times), Kierscht (three times), Cunill (three times), Kindseth (twice), Kline (once), and Carrillo (once) have all tallied double-digit scoring games this season.
 
PRESBYTERIAN – USC UPSTATE SERIES
Wednesday will mark the 17th time that these two teams have met since Presbyterian joined Division I in 2007. USC Upstate joined the Big South Conference before the 2018-19 season. Last season the Blue Hose defeated the Spartans 82-53 before they played again later in the season where the Upstate won 61-56. The all-time series between the two teams is ties at eight wins apiece.

As a team, Presbyterian leads the conference with 13.5 assists per game, a 0.7 assist to turnover ratio, and a +2.8-rebounding margin. The team is ranked second for shooting at 39.1 percent from the field and with their -2.1-scoring margin. Individually, the Blue Hose have three players who are ranked in the top 10 for scoring, Sjokvist is in tenth with 12.0 ppg, Neira is ranked eighth for her 12.6 ppg, and Brady is listed at seventh with 12.6 ppg. Sjokvist is also ranked third for averaging 3.5 apg. Neira leads the league for averaging 2.5 three-point field goals per game and with a 35.0 three-point field goal percentage.
 
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARDS
Presbyterian beat the Columbia College Koalas 62-53 on Sunday, December 31. Brady scored a new season-high of 27 points while shooting 73.3% (11-of-15) from the field. She also shot 62.5% (5-of-8) from the free throw line and dished out two assists. Defensively, Brady helped the team hold the Koalas to no points for almost 11 minutes in the second half. She added four rebounds and a block to her efforts. This is the second time that Brady earned this award and the fourth Big South Player of the Week award that the Blue Hose have received so far this season.
