Presbyterian Host No. 5 High Point On Senior Night

The Presbyterian Blue Hose play the fifth-ranked High Point Panthers on Senior Night this Saturday evening.

Before the game, the Blue Hose will honor seniors: Carson Griffith, Damorney Hutchinson, Damian McGregor-Wickham and Reudd Manin.

Also, Presbyterian will recognize the program's alumni. During halftime of the women's soccer game which starts at 2:30 p.m, Presbyterian will honor former coach Ralph Polson.

NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
After his prolific goal-scoring week, Hutchinson was named TopDrawerSoccer's National Player of the Week on September 17. Hutchinson is the first player in the program's history to garner National Player of the Week accolades. He was also named to TopDrawerSoccer's National Team of the Week becoming the sixth player in Presbyterian's Division I era to claim National Team of the Week honors. Hutchinson scored four goals leading the Blue Hose to wins over Coastal Carolina and VMI in the previous week to earn the awards. Last week, Hutchinson was also named to TopDrawerSoccer's Midseason Players to Watch list.

BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARDS
On September 16, Hutchinson captured Big South Offensive Player of the Week honors, and freshman midfielder Jonas Sundli-Hardig was the league's Freshman of the Week. Hutchinson was the third player in the program's history to earn Big South Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. Sundli-Hardig was the tenth player in school history to be named Big South Freshman of the Week.


On October 7, Hutchinson was named Big South Offensive Player of the Week again. Freshman midfielder Morgan Dance claimed the Big South Freshman of the Week award. Hutchinson is the first player in the program's history to capture multiple Big South Offensive Player of the Week awards in the same season. Dance is the 11th player in school history named Big South Freshman of the Week.

BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
  • Hutchinson ranks among the nation's leaders with a  Big South leading nine goals, a school Division I era record for goals scored in a season.
  • Griffith is second on the team with three goals.
  • Junior midfielder Iragi Kalala, and freshmen midfielders Dance and Herman Furumo are tied for third on the team with two goals apiece.
  • Thirteen different Presbyterian players have scored a goal this season.
  • Junior midfielder Steven Cordova is second in the Big South with five assists.
  • While Sundli-Hardig is tied for third in the Big South with four assists. Twelve different PC players have recorded at least one assist.
  • Hutchinson leads the Big South with 43 shots.
  • As a team, the Blue Hose ranked among the NCAA leaders in 6.67 points per game (26 goals, 28 assists, 80 points). Presbyterian leads the Big South in goals, assists, and points.   
NOTABLES
  • Presbyterian has scored at least three goals in a game four times this season.
  • Hutchinson now holds the program's Division I era record for single-season goals (9) and career goals (16).
  • In the 9-0 win over Erskine on August 24, Presbyterian set Division I era school records for goals with nine, assists with seven, and points with 25.

PRESBYTERIAN-HIGH POINT SERIES
Saturday's game will be the 18th meeting between PC and High Point, who leads the series 1-12-5. The two teams battled to a scoreless draw in their last matchup at Martin Stadium on October 8, 2022.
 
SCOUTING HIGH POINT
  • The Panthers enter the game ranked fifth in the nation in the latest TopDrawerSoccer poll.
  • High Point enters the game on a nine game-winning streak which includes road wins over No. 17 Elon and No. 1 Pittsburgh.
  • The Panthers have outscored their opponents 27-10 this season. Junior midfielder Brendan Krueger has scored six goals and dished out a Big South leading eight assists.
  • Zach Haines is in his sixth season as the Panthers head coach.
