Behind a strong second half performance and four double-figure scorers, the Presbyterian Blue Hose defeated the Winthrop Eagles, 78-55, on the road last Wednesday. The win marked Presbyterian's first win at Winthrop since February 14, 2012. Junior guard Samage Teel led all scorers with 22 points. He also dished five assists. Junior guard Marquis Barnett tallied 19 points and seven rebounds. Junior forward Kaleb Scott rounded out Presbyterian's double-figure scorers with 13 points to go along with eight rebounds. Senior guard Trevon Reddish-Rhone scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds. Freshman guard Carl Parrish scored five points off the bench for the Blue Hose.
 
BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBER – Barnett leads the team in scoring averaging 15.1 points per game while grabbing 4.6 rebounds and distributing 2.7 assists per game. Barnett leads the Big South and ranks 58th in the nation in steals per game averaging 1.9 steals per contest with 56 steals. Teel is second on the team in scoring averaging 13.0 points per game while dishing out 2.7 assists per game. Teel has connected on a team-leading 48 three-point field goals. Junior forward Jonah Pierce leads the team in rebounding averaging 4.9 boards per game while averaging 7.5 points per game. Senior guard Kobe Stewart is third on the team in rebounding at 4.6 boards per game. Stewart chips in with 7.8 points per game while connecting on 30 threes. Junior guard Jamahri Harvey averages 8.2 points while connecting on 19 three-point field goals. Senior guard Crosby James has connected on 28 three-point field goals. Freshman guard Kory Mincy has knocked down 22 three-point field goals this season while averaging 5.6 points per game. Scott averages 7.4 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, which ranks him second in the team in boards per game. Reddish-Rhone averages 4.2 boards per game while averaging 6.7 points per game. Parrish is one of seven PC players who have connected on double-figure three-point field goals with 14 made threes. As a team, PC is averaging 75.4 points per game. Presbyterian ranks 28th in the nation in bench points averaging 27.8 points per game from the bench and 46th in the nation averaging 13.1 fastbreak points per game
 
BIG SOUTH LEADER IN FIELD GOAL PERCENTAGE - Presbyterian leads the Big South Conference and ranks 34th in the nation in field goal percentage shooting 47.7 percent (790-of-1655) from the field. This season, Presbyterian has had 12 games shooting 50 percent or higher from the field. The Blue Hose shot a season-high 69.8 percent from the field in a win over Mid-Atlantic Christian on December 13. The Blue Hose shot 52.5 percent from the field in the win at Winthrop (February 21).
 
BLUE HOSE DOUBLE-FIGURE SCORERS - In 29 games, Presbyterian has had ten different players score in double-figures. Barnett (24 times), Teel (22 times), Stewart (ten times), Harvey (nine times), Reddish-Rhone (nine times), Scott (nine times), Pierce (eight times), Mincy (five times), James (five times), and Parrish (twice) have all recorded double-digit scoring games this season.
 
PAINT SCORES - PC tallied their sixth 50-plus points in the paint scoring game with 50 points in the win at Winthrop (February 21). Presbyterian recorded their fifth 50-plus points in the paint scoring game with 60 points in the paint in the win over Johnson & Wales (December 3). The 60 points in the paint against Johnson & Wales marked the most points in the paint in a single-game by the Blue Hose since scoring 60 points in the paint at UNC Asheville (February 26, 2022). The Blue Hose posted their fourth 50-plus points in the paint scoring game with 52 points in the paint against Kennesaw State (December 16). PC collected their third 50-plus points in the paint scoring output of the season with a season-high 58 points in the paint in the win over Mid-Atlantic Christian (December 13). The Blue Hose scored 56 points in the paint at Elon (November 27). PC scored 50 points in the paint against CIU (November 9). The Blue Hose average 36.9 points per game in the paint.
 
PC COACH QUINTON FERRELL - Quinton Ferrell is in his fifth season as the head coach of his alma mater, Presbyterian College. Ferrell, a former Blue Hose team captain and a 2007 PC graduate, is one of 50 coaches in the NCAA Division I ranks who are coaching their alma maters.
 
PRESBYTERIAN-USC UPSTATE SERIES
Wednesday's game will be the 37th meeting between Presbyterian and USC Upstate, who leads the series 19-17. The Blue Hose defeated the Spartans, 80-73, at home in their first game this season on January 31. Barnett led four Blue Hose double-figure scorers with 20 points. Scott nearly recorded a double-double with 10 points and eight rebounds.

SCOUTING USC UPSTATE
The Spartans enter the game on a three-game losing streak with losses to Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern, and Winthrop. On February 14, USC Upstate handed High Point their only home Big South loss with an 86-81 overtime win. Redshirt junior guard Trae Broadnax leads the Spartans in scoring averaging 14.5 points per game. Sophomore guard Justin Bailey is second on the team in scoring at 12.1 points per game. Graduate guard Miquel Ayesa has connected on a team-leading 58 three-point field goals. The Spartans average 71.3 points per game while allowing their opponents to average 73.2 points per game.
