DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.  – In a game that came down to the wire, the Presbyterian Blue Hose (14-19) lost to the Montana Grizzlies (24-11), 82-79, in overtime in the College Basketball Invitational at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida on Sunday afternoon.
 
Samage Teel scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Blue Hose. During the game, Teel scored his 1,000^th career point. Jonah Pierce scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. Kaleb Scott scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds.
 
Presbyterian scored 48 points in the paint with 28 fast break points.   
 

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF – The game began with the two teams exchanging threes with Teel connecting on the Blue Hose's first basket with a three. Montana jumped out to a 7-3 lead then Jamahri Harvey connected on a three cutting Montana's lead to one point with 16:28 on the clock. With 12:55 on the clock, Crosby James connected on a jumper from the foul line making the score 12-11 Montana. The Grizzlies scored five straight points pushing their lead to 16-11. Montana pushed their lead to 28-18 with 8:19 on the clock. A dunk from Scott and a layup from Teel cut Montana's lead to 28-22 with 7:25 on the clock. After another driving layup from Teel with 5;51 on the clock, the Blue Hose had cut the Grizzlies lead to 30-26. With 4:16 left in the half, Montana led 35-28, the Blue Hose scored eight of the half's final 10 points cutting Montana's halftime lead to 37-36.
 
SECOND HALF – Presbyterian scored four of the first six points of the half taking a 40-39 lead after a layup from Scott with 17:12 on the clock. The lead exchanged hands a couple of times with several lead changes over the next six minutes. With the game tied at 50 with 11 minutes on the clock, Montana scored eight straight points taking a 58-50 lead with 7:57 left in regulation. Montana increased their lead to nine points a couple of times. With 5:16 on the clock, Montana led 66-57. Behind a free throw from Teel and baskets from Trevon Reddish-Rhone, Kory Mincy, and Pierce, Presbyterian cut Montana's lead to 66-64 with three minutes left in the half. The Grizzlies pushed their lead back up to five points, 69-64. The Blue Hose scored the final five points of the half sending the game to overtime after Teel scored on a driving layup with four seconds on the clock.
 
OVERTIME – The teams exchanged baskets over the first few minutes of overtime. With 1:40 on the clock, Mincy connected on a three from the wing giving the Blue Hose a 74-73 lead. Montana scored five straight points regaining the lead for good. PC cut Montana's lead to one point a couple of times but the Grizzlies converted on four free throws in the final 20 seconds to close out the game.
 
 
NOTES

• Teel's 28 points marked a career-high scoring output. He finished the season with 26 double-figure scoring games and five 20-plus points scoring games. His layup that sent the game into overtime marked his 1,000^th career point.
• Pierce's 11 points marked his ninth double-figure scoring game of the season.
