FARMVILLE, Va. – The Presbyterian College softball team ventured to their furthest Big South conference opponent on Friday evening for round one of a three-game series against the Lancers of Longwood, finding a rough result in the Commonwealth State by a 10-1 final tally.
PC's second league opponent holds one of the most misleading records beside their name as a program that has clashed with six Power 5 universities throughout the campaign, still a contender in the division and ending the first bout with 10 hits.
The Blue Hose found five connections at the plate from five different competitors, breaking through in the top of the 4
th after a Longwood mishap to bring home catcher
Logan Grice once
Kendall Owens put the ball in play.
That would be all that Presbyterian could acquire in the defeat, stranding 10 runners in total after gathering a .623 on-base percentage in five stanzas.
Fifth-year pitcher
Jenna Greene was granted the starting role and was succeeded by freshman
Kasey Wolfe following 3.1 innings. Longwood posted a couple of homers to extend an early advantage, accounting for three scores in the bottom of the 5
th that ended the affair on the spot.
