Blue Hose Play Samford and Elon at Templeton Tennis Courts This Week

The Presbyterian Blue Hose (5-5) play the Samford Bulldogs (8-4) and the Elon Phoenix (7-4) this week at the Templeton Tennis Courts. First, the Blue Hose play the Bulldogs on Thursday, March 7 at 2 p.m. Then, PC concludes the week with a home match against Elon on Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m.
 
BLUE HOSE BY THE NUMBERS
Pedro Cardoso and David Mamalat are tied for the team with seven wins apiece. Javier Matos has recorded six wins all at number one singles. Denim Yadav has collected four singles wins this season. The doubles team of Matos and Yadav lead the team with four wins all at the number one spot. The doubles team of Cardoso and Evgenios Vasilakis have three wins. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Blue Hose lost to South Carolina State, 4-3, at home last Sunday. The doubles team of Vasilakis and Cardoso tallied a win at number three doubles. Mamalat, Matos, and Cardoso collected singles wins.
 
BIG SOUTH WEEKLY AWARDS
Cardoso has earned Big South Men's Tennis Player of the Week honors twice on February 7 and February 28. For the sixth time in the program's history, a Blue Hose player has earned multiple Big South Player of the Week awards in the same season.
 
Vasilakis was named Big South Freshman of the Week on February 28. He is the 17th player in the program's history to earn the award.
 
SAMFORD
  • The Bulldogs have won the last three matches against Presbyterian. The last time the two teams played Samford defeated PC, 4-3, at home on January 13, 2020.
  • Samford enters Thursday's contest on a five-match winning streak with wins over Southern Miss, Birmingham-Southern, Belmont, UNCG, and The Citadel.
  • Darcy Nicholls and J.B. Pickard lead Samford with six wins apiece. Nicholls' wins have come at number two and three singles. While Pickard has won at number one , four, and five singles. The doubles team of Maxwell Giddens and Sandeep Mohandoss are 6-0 on the season with all the wins coming at number one singles.
 
ELON
  • The Blue Hose defeated Elon, 4-2, on the road last season on March 26, 2023. Mamalat and Yadav collected singles wins in that match.
  • The Phoenix, who play at Wofford on Saturday before the match against PC, have won seven of their last eight matches.
  • Oskar Antinheimo leads Elon with eight wins with six of them coming at number three singles. Jack Curtis and Veljko Krstic are second on the team with seven wins apiece. Curtis has tallied wins at number five and six singles. Krstic's wins came at number one and two singles.
  • The doubles team of Curtis and Antinheimo lead the team with seven wins all at the number three position.
