COACH POLLOCK'S THOUGHTS
"I am so proud of our team and the effort they put forth today.
Daniel Eagen set the tone with arguably the most electric pitching performance during my tenure at PC. Our offense was also really good, led by
Joel Dragoo and
Noah Lebron, each of whom had 3 hits apiece and seven RBI's collectively."
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
-
Jack Gorman ignited the offense for the Blue Hose, launching a solo home run over the left field wall in the bottom of the second inning, putting Presbyterian in front 1-0.
- In the bottom of the third inning,
Brody Fahr drew a walk, setting the stage for Dragoo, who powered an RBI single down the left field line, extending the lead to 2-0.
- The bottom of the fifth inning saw
Eli Lazio lead off with a walk, followed by another walk from
Jay Wetherington, placing runners on first and second. Fahr executed a perfectly placed sacrifice bunt down the third base line, advancing the runners to second and third. The Bulldogs' coaching staff then chose to intentionally walk Dragoo, loading the bases with one out.
Noah Lebron took one for the team, being hit by a pitch to bring in another run.
Jake Randolph grounded out to the shortstop, but not before sending Lazio home, giving PC a 4-0 lead after five innings.
- Presbyterian added another run in the bottom of the sixth when Wetherington hit an RBI single through the right side, driving in
Jackson Hugus.
- The Blue Hose exploded in the seventh inning, scoring seven runs on seven hits, increasing their lead to 12-0. Key hits included doubles from Dragoo and Lazio, along with singles from Lebron (twice), Randolph, Gorman, and Fahr.
- In the bottom of the eighth, singles by
Holden Baker, Wetherington, and Fahr loaded the bases. Dragoo then hammered a grand slam over the center field wall, pushing the score to 17-0.
- The Blue Hose defense held Asheville scoreless in the top of the ninth inning, completing the shutout and securing a dominant 17-0 victory.
