CLINTON, S.C. – On Tuesday afternoon, College Sports Communicators (CSC) released their annual Academic All-District awards, which recognize student-athletes excelling both on the field and in the classroom. The Presbyterian College baseball team received five awards, the maximum number allowed per team. The honored players are
Charlie McDaniel,
Jack Gorman,
Kyle Mueller,
Fenix DiGiacomo, and
Joel Dragoo.

To be named to the CSC Academic All-District team, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, be at least a sophomore, and have spent a minimum of one year at their current school. Position players must have participated in at least 90% of the team's games or started in 66% of the total games played during the 2024 season. Pitchers must have recorded 25 or more innings or appeared in 17 games as a pitcher.

McDaniel, Gorman, Mueller, DiGiacomo, and Dragoo all met these stringent criteria in 2024, with McDaniel and Gorman achieving this honor for the second consecutive year.

Thirteen student-athletes from the Big South were named to the All-District list, with the Blue Hose tying UNC Asheville for the highest representation in the league with five honorees.

Joel Dragoo were also selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists, with the results to be announced on July 2.

Charlie McDaniel
Senior | Pitcher | Sanford, Fla.

McDaniel has been a consistent starter on Presbyterian's pitching staff throughout his four-year collegiate career. This season, he started in 15 games, pitching 92.1 innings and striking out 86 batters, 29 more than last season. He led the team with seven wins, including a crucial victory against UNC Asheville that helped secure the title of Big South Regular Season Champions. McDaniel's 10-strikeout game against George Washington was a career-high, and his 56 career starts are the most in Presbyterian College history. He was named to the Big South's First Team All-Conference for his efforts this season.

Academically, McDaniel has excelled, making the Dean's List six times and the President's List in the Fall of 2022. He has been on the Big South's Presidential Honor Roll for his first three years of his career at PC and is likely to be honored again this year.

Jack Gorman

Gorman had a strong 2024 season, recording a .248 batting average with 34 hits, 28 runs, six doubles, a .394 slugging percentage, and 11 stolen bases. Over his three years at PC, he has a .279 batting average, 146 hits, 100 runs, 35 doubles, nine home runs, and 77 RBIs. He earned a spot on the Big South Championship All-Tournament team this season.

In the classroom, Gorman has made the Dean's List four times and the Big South Presidential Honor Roll for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years.

Kyle Mueller
Sophomore | Pitcher | Winter Haven, Fla.

Mueller made 20 appearances on the mound this season, pitching 27.2 innings with 27 strikeouts, securing two wins, and one save for the Blue Hose. His career stats include 41 appearances, 67.0 innings pitched, 59 strikeouts, and 26 walks.

Academically, Mueller has been on the Dean's List both semesters of 2023 and the President's List in Fall 2022. He was named to the Big South Presidential Honor Roll after his freshman year and is likely to be honored again this year.

Fenix DiGiacomo

DiGiacomo started in 14 games this season, pitching 67.1 innings with 65 strikeouts and a 5.75 ERA. He held batters to a .264 average with 43 earned runs and 23 walks. Over two seasons, he has made 32 appearances with 22 starts, 116.1 innings pitched, 108 strikeouts, and a 5.65 ERA.

Joel Dragoo

Dragoo was one of the nation's top batters this season, setting the program's Division I single-season record with 18 home runs and 67 RBIs. He was named Big South Player of the Year, leading the league with a .395 batting average, .785 slugging percentage, and .415 on-base percentage. Dragoo was also a First Team All-Big South player and received four Big South Player of the Week honors.
