The Presbyterian Blue Hose begin their dual match season against the Kennesaw State Owls and the Georgia Bulldogs this weekend. First, Presbyterian host Kennesaw State in their home opening match at the Templeton Tennis Courts on Friday, January 17 at 2 p.m. Then, the Blue Hose end the weekend on the road at SEC foe Georgia on Saturday, January 18 at 4 p.m.

Juan Pablo Boada is in his first season at the helm of the program. Presbyterian returned five letterwinners: senior
Pedro Cardoso, juniors
David Mamalat and
Denim Yadav, and sophomores
Marco Foglieni and
Evgenios Vasilakis. Joining those five returners are freshman
Daksh Prasad and
Eduardo Valentin. Cardoso, Mamalat, Yadav, Foglieni, Vasilakis, and Prasad all recorded singles and doubles wins during the team's fall tournament season. Valentin is new to the roster this spring. All five returning players earned All-Big South accolades last season.Â

HOME OPENING MATCH
Friday's match against Kennesaw State marks Presbyterian's home opening match. The Blue Hose have won their home opening match for eight consecutive seasons. Presbyterian began the 2022 season with a 5-2 win over Kennesaw State at the Templeton Tennis Courts on January 15.

BIG SOUTH PRESEASON POLL
Presbyterian was picked to finish second in the preseason Big South coaches poll. Gardner-Webb, who won the Big South regular-season title last season, was picked first. After the Blue Hose in the poll was UNC Asheville, the defending Big South tournament champions, who were picked third. Longwood and Radford round out the poll in fourth and fifth place respectively.

In Presbyterian's men's tennis program's history, the Blue Hose have captured three Big South regular-season titles (2014, 2017, and 2023) and three Big South Tournament titles (2017, 2021, and 2023).

PRESBYTERIAN-KENNESAW STATE SERIES
Presbyterian has won the last two meetings against Kennesaw State; both of their previous matchups were played at the Templeton Tennis Courts. Presbyterian topped Kennesaw State, 5-2, at home in their last match, on January 15, 2022.

SCOUTING KENNESAW STATE
Friday's match against Presbyterian will also be the Owls season opener. Last season, KSU went 14-6 while reaching the semifinals of the ASUN Tournament. Kennesaw State was ranked 75th in the ITA rankings near the end of last season.

PRESBYTERIAN-GEORGIA SERIES
Saturday's match is the second-ever meeting between Presbyterian and Georgia. The Bulldogs beat Presbyterian, 7-0, at home in their previous matchup on February 14, 2019. The last time Presbyterian played an SEC team was against Kentucky on the road in the first round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament on May 5, 2023.

SCOUTING GEORGIA
Georgia has made 40 straight and 45 overall appearances in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs have captured six National Championships. Thomas Paulsell is ranked No. 16 and Ryan Golby is ranked No. 53, in the ITA singles rankings. The doubles teams of Freddy Blaydes and Niels Ratiu, are ranked No. 13, Paulsell and Colby, are ranked No. 14, Miguel Perez Pena and Oscar Pinto Sansano, are ranked No. 31, are ranked in the latest ITA doubles rankings.
